the pictures is pretty crappy from work flip phone camera. But I'm pretty confident that I've found my first Gym of the season.
There was also some Amanita Muscaria in the area.
Hoping for a good Gym season this year.

I'm Pretty sure its Gym junonius. picture don't do it any justice. Found a bunch the past couple years.
the season right. The substrate right. The growth seems right. The cap texture seems right. the cap shape seems right. the stem seems right, I didn't smell them but if i did i'd make a hefty wager they smelled right. And after a week or two when they grow I'll check the print to make sure thats right.

They could be Gyms or a species of Armillaria but it's too early to tell

I agree with Gymnopilus. Are these in the same location as the flush you found last year? I see needles everywhere, were there any oak or other hardwoods present? Can you dry some fresh specimens that have just begun sporulation?

They're in a new location. In a mulch bed, with some kind of ornimental pines. along side a mixed forest of pines and decidiuos trees, I didn't harvest them figured I'd let them grow for a week or so. They're at condo complex i take care of. Hoping they don't get disturbed during the week. I won't be back till next monday.
