Post binge depression
    #18760380 - 08/26/13 04:33 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Do any of you ever just feel really down after a binge? Alcohol, drugs, whatever. For me it has been basically 5 straight days of drinking, with yesterday being the cap on it all. We went tailgating with some friends yesterday at a Houston Texans game. Started drinking at 9 AM (game didn't start til 3), and I didn't stop until last night until 1 AM. Thank God I didn't take any shots or I probably would have ended up puking. But I swear, I probably polished off a full case of beer. If not, without a doubt somewhere close to it, 22 or 23 beers or some shit like that. And I also don't smoke cigarettes unless I drink, and yesterday I probably smoked a pack and a half. Chest feels like it's about to cave in at the moment.

Anyway I slept til freaking 4 PM today, and I'm just sitting here not wanting to do anything. I feel really, really low for whatever reason. I guess it's the crash back to reality. I gotta get out and do some shit but I don't even want to show my face in public at the moment. I feel strung the fuck out.

Y'all know this feeling, right? Anybody else feel horrible after a bender?

Don't go on benders, so no can't really relate. But I would think if you binge drink for days it's to be expected.

Rehydrate yourself and get some good food in you.

I polished off a lot of beer last week and got a lot more this week to go before school starts.  See you in the other side... hopefully

I need to stop drinking, I think. It's easy to say that now though, but after a few days of recovery...

Yeah but I don't feel down like that after a 6 pack and some shots, but yesterday's bender took everything out of me, I guess. But like shroomism said, binges and that feeling are probably to be expected. And thanks for the advice MM69.

anti-depressants seal your chemicals at certain levels so they won't go up

depressants generally slow down your metabolism and bodies circulation.

what exactly were you trying to say?

Yea man. I feel pretty damn depressed after a binge. Especially with alcohol, molly, or cocaine.

Since those drugs make me pretty numb to the real feelings. It's hard to deal with reality after a binge.

Opiates were the worst culprit of post binge depression. Thankfully it's been many years since I've touched them.

That doesn't necessarily mean it makes you depressed. The term "depressant" refers to the fact that it is a CNS depressant. In other words, it slows down your bodies functioning. Doesn't necessarily mean being depressed is a direct effect from it, not everyone gets depressed from drinking.

For sure. There are people that become happy while drinking as well as sad and depressed drunks. It has nothing to do with alcohol being a CNS depressant. You act a certain way while drinking based on your personality, and what's going on in your life at that moment.

I also attribute depression from an alcohol binge due to the guilt of knowing you've harmed your body as well as what I already posted.

I find benzos really help with dealing with a bad hangover.

Drinking alcohol on the regs tends to make me pretty depressed. That's why I usually only drink a couple beers at most, and even that only once a week or so. Every once in  a while I'll have more, but I almost always suffer as a result.

I feel way crappier if I just have a beer or two than if I drink like a 6-pack or so

isn't that far out

Well if you're out socializing then binge drinking is going to be healthier then not drinking at all..
