PTSD. Is it something we are seeing much more of due to the type of wars we fight? According to this video recently one out of five in prison was a Vietnam Vet. Now they say we are seeing even more of this in the military. What say you about this. Is it real, or is this just a type that joins the military? http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/war-crimes/

It might just be more diagnosed, and being more recognized the patients are more likely to admit to having difficulties rather than bucking up and acting fine when under scrutiny. I can't imagine combat getting much more traumatic than WW1 style trench warfare.

I would have to say that it is definitely real, and cases are only going up because PTSD has a label. I don't believe it had a name before the 70's. At the very least the modern understanding of the mental illness was established around then. I would have to say that those with PTSD are not the "types" to join the military. PTSD I believe occurs after going through combat stress repeatedly for such a long time.
Here is a link to the psychological effects of killing another human being and being involved in combat. It's a pretty damn interesting read in my opinion. I can't really speak for it's credibility though...

I'd definitely say it is real and I think hearing more about it might also have to do with the rate and methods of information exchange being less muddled and available via the internet. Also, the bridging of information gaps across cultures that the internet provides has the potential to make soldiers more aware of the effects and truth about the wars they are fighting for reasons they are tricked into believing.
I don't know if any of you have read Iraqi veteran, Daniel Somers suicide note, but it's pretty intense and IMO offers a good glimpse inside the nightmare that returning soldiers face.

And PTSD can be caused by non-military events. It seems that very emotionally stressful scarring events can cause PTSD.

MDMA
Not really - while there has been promising results from using MDMA as a form of therapy to help people cope with PTSD, that isn't a "cure". But it is still a good thing - and I hope more studies and testing is done so that people can get the help they need.
