The original was cool, you sit too far off the ground in the BMW version.

I think they look kind of dumb though.
If I was going to spend a good chunk of change on a car, I'd get a subaru.
I agree, subaru is the way to go
Subarus are notorious for breaking down and are also very expensive to fix, as are most high end cars.

minis are overpriced and overrated parts and maintenance arent cheap (what do you expect from a car bmw makes) problems do occur and the dealerships usually dont back you up too easily
source: my co worker had one ON A LEASE and couldnt wait to get rid of it
look at the scion iQ
I will agree with that. It seems like most cars these days require work at the manufacturer because every single part is designed by autocad software to fix exactly within millimeters of the next part. A mini is no exception, so if you aren't we'll insured or leasing, expect to pay a lot for maintenance. That is one thing I will miss in the future. In the 70s you could fix a Volkswagen with a potato if you had to. These days you need a million different specialized tools specific to one car

Man whatever, if you rock an EJ you will be very happy. Take care of any car and it'll run forever.

Subarus are not notorious for breaking down if the car was decently maintained by previous owner. I just got my wrx last Nov with 135k miles have driven it like a champ thru canyons and have not had ONE problem with the car.
If you mean ej, as in civic? Dont do it.

I'd put the mini cooper, a fiat and volkswagen bugs all into the same category of strange looking little cars.

Yeah this is probably narrow minded, I mean I try to live by "to each their own", but I just being bluntly honest I pretty much hate anybody who thinks those pieces of shit look good. Same goes for those hideous cube cars.

I'd rather fucking hitchhike then ride in one of those things.

So two car models from completely different manufacturers have the same drive train (BMW and Ford)? That sounds like some heavy bullshit.

I believe they are well built vehicles that are over priced.
In the sub-compact market it's hard to find a car right now with as many luxury options. They also have really reliable motors and transmissions with the option of getting the turbo version which is always a plus.
The sub-compact market has been growing steadily in the past few years. I believe the US will see an influx of these cars from different makes saturate the market. I would wait a year or two to buy a car in this category. They will be much cheaper than Minis while having comparable style and performance.

Also it seems as if the cooper has had the same basic chassis, engine and body with no major updates to the design since it's introduction over 6 years ago.
It really starts to show its age when compared to something like the ford focus st.
