Ive been foraging in my woods recently and I came across this mushroom, I believe it to be the edible Butter Cap xerula radicata but I can't be a hundred percent sure.

Habitat: At first this mushroom looked like it was growing from grass, but it was growing from the root of this tree which was about an inch underground.

Gills: White.
Stem: Stem is around 3 inches long and between a 8mm and 12mm wide. It is whitish at the top and gets a slightly darker brown further to the bottom. You can see the shape of the stem and root here:

Cap: An inch and half in diameter. Brown, slightly wrinkled and umbonate to convex in shape. When I rubbed a little water on the cap to get the print the cap became slimy/greasy.
Spore print color: White. I got a very prominent print from this, better than I have had of any mushroom before.
Bruising: After cutting the cap away from the stem there is no bruising other than a slight darkening.
If you need anymore information or pictures just ask. Thanks, Charles.

I think it's Xerula Radicata (rooting shank). Thanks for your help, if anybody else could confirm this that would be great.
