Hi all, I've been dealing with some mysterious health issues over the last few months and I might finally be on the verge of discovering exactly what it is. This forum seems well educated on the subject, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions/ideas of parasites that may be found on fungus from the Southwest (NM) area.
About 4 months ago (May) I started having trouble breathing, chest pains, and acid reflux out of nowhere. I noticed that my throat had been red for over 3 weeks and started having blood work done among a number of other tests. Over the course of three months things got progressively worse and all tests continued to come back "normal" according to my Doctors, more on that later. About 3 weeks ago I finally had a biopsy of my throat done and something called Eosinophilic Esophagitis showed up. After googling that I saw that it could arise from a food/environmental allergy, or a fungus/parasitic infection.
Since May of 2012 I have basically eaten an eighth a month. They are amazing and they helped me find an inner peace I never could've even comprehended before then. However around April of this year I was on antibiotics (Doxycycline). I took my last pill of a 2x daily 7 day treatment on a thursday night and ate an eighth the next day (4/5/2013). About a month later was when all of this started up.
Had I had a decent Doctor they may have paid attention to the elevated Eosinophils that showed up on my first CBC blood test in May (reference range, 1-5, results: 9) Had I had a good Dr. I may have been referred to a decent ENT in June who wouldn't have just put me on antibiotics despite multiple tests suggesting it was not bacterial/viral. Had I had a good Dr. she probably would not have neglected to test Eosinophils levels on second CBC in July and would not have told me that my throat was "normal". This same Doctor may have also thought twice about my "normal" results from my chest x-ray, in spite of the lungs reading that they were over-inflated. but I digress.
After finally meeting with a decent Doctor last week and putting all of this on the table he ran a bunch of new blood tests. I know I'm being tested for some fungal infection but I don't think I am being tested for parasites. It is almost a sure thing that I will test positive for Eosinophilic Pneumonia and that will explain the shortness of breath. However I thought my heart was having problems over the last few months (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x13ekyk_pulse-after-20-pushups_lifestyle) but it turns out that these are muscle spasms. This could be a brain-related issue. I don't know I'm waiting on test results.
If anyone on this forum has gone through something similar it would be amazing to hear how you got through it. If not here is basically what I'm asking.
- Is it likely that taking fungus while on anti-biotics lead to a fungal or parasitic infection, and hence caused all of this? - If so, what parasites should I be concerned about? - As far as brain damage goes, there is an Eosinophilic condition called Eosinophilia-Myalgia Sundrome. It mentions the cause having something to do with poorly produced L-tryptophan supplements. Is there any correlation between L-tryptophan and fungus and should I be concerned?
Honestly the antibiotic/fungus issue is the only thing i can think of that could have lead to all of these health issues. Before all of this started I was an extremely active person, gym for an hour 4-6 times a week, running 5 miles in the sand 3-5 times a week, riding a bike 6 miles or more daily for months on end with no problems. I'm just trying to figure out what connection this could have to health issue. Any input is appreciated, thank you.
and yes, I take full responsibility for being a moron and not just skipping the trip in April. I did google antibiotics and shrooms and was lead to a thread on here (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/8502944), but still, in hindsight it was obviously a terrible choice. I also admit that I am obviously not well educated on how anything inside the body works but my logic for this is simple, anti-biotics throw off your good bacteria levels, throwing fungus on top of that could have lead to fungal/parasite infection. I don't know if that's how it works, but it seems to add up.
