I plan to get some mist makers like these http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-LED-Ultrasonic-Mist-Maker-Fogger-Water-Fountain-Pond-/151061236357?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item232bf38a85 My question is I always see the buoys sold with the ones from mainland mart. Are these buoys necessary? If so is it just as easy to construct your own adn anyone want to share how they do it? One final question. I see the replacement discs sold. Will the type I posted accept these? Just asking from experience. I asked the seller but they usually don't know these sorts of things to be honest lol

Make your own buoy out of foam or something along those lines. The buoys work good but they are pricey compared to the fogger. In my expierence the fogger stops working before the disk needs replacing.

my 5-head fogger from mainland mart did not come with a buoy. You didn't post a link to the replacement disc, so who knows if they will work. The discs seem to be universal though, and also these things seem kind of disposable. If you want them for super cheap you can get the single heads with 1 led shipped from china, for like $3 each. They don't come with a transformer though.

Yeah my initial plan was to purchase 3 full sets with adapters from the U.S. and see if that works for my 70sq. ft greenhouse i plan to order. I didn't post the replacements because in another thread in my readings i read some aren't replaceable so i was seeing mainly if they were even replaceable. But I get your reasoning and saw the cheap ones without the adapter and figured i might as well order 10 or so to start and see how often they need replaced. Thanks for the guidance friends!

To answer one of your original questions yes the buoys are necessary. Too little water depth or too much you will not get as much fog. I have a five head mainland fogger. My experience has been nothing but positive with the silly thing. I have been running it for 20 months now and it is still going strong. No silicon, no tightening the rings...nothing, plugged it in and ran it. I must have gotten lucky I guess. I do run it on a fairly conservative timeline. Five minutes off one on.

This is something no one has mentioned in the past, the consistency of the run time. The cheap chinese ones if running consistently don't last long.
I do have a fogger I purchased from mainland mart almost 12 months ago that is still running strong. So there is a lot to be said about the more expensive foggers lasting a bit longer in my experience.
My foggers are on nearly 24/7 (it's that dry here in utah) so they take quite the abuse.

By the name of this thread, I thought it was about porn.
You tricked me. Just like the "homemade jerky" thread did.

I read in another post someone had both the chinese ones and the mainland mart ones and they were the same. I thought i'd read as well it usually isn't necessary to run them full time. If so hopefully i can get enough to where i wont.

That is going to be very dependant on climate. If you live in a humid state, you wont need to run them often. If you live in a dry climate (like me) they are going to struggle to keep up.

I've also considered using some of these maybe one in each corner of the greenhouse or 6 all together. Not sure how i'd get that many hoses or if it'd be necessary though. This will be an overall 70 sq ft greenhouse i'm using whatever i decide to use on. Anyone have a suggestion for how many fog makers to start out with?

Well I got 3 of the foggers yesterday for a total of around 27 bucks. I tested one out and it seems to work great but now I have to figure out a way to run all 3 of them. I've read a lot of talk of making yoru own buoys and am going to try to make one out of water bottles first so I can recycle something but If i have to i'll buy foam. Main question is how far do you want them under the water surface? I was able to set them under quite a few inches of water and still get heavy mist from the one I tested. If i refill something every day for now I'm thinking I can just let them run on the bottom maybe? Idk if its a good idea to have them moe than a cm or two under the surface though. Any advice welcome.

I've been running mine on the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket for awhile on a 1 hr on 30 min off cycle. I have to refill twice a day and it's enough of a pain that I'm making a float the next time I have a few hours spare. It's not too bad normally, but if you have to go out of town for a couple days your GH will dry up . I would keep the disc about an inch or two under the water.
