I Want to Ween Off of My Medication

I am taking Propranolol 25mg/day for high blood pressure. I need to get off of it as I am trying to join the airforce. I had to take it originally because I was basically sedentary and had a horrible diet. Now I am exercising 6/7 days/week and I am eating better. The problem is, my doctor wants to ween me off over a three month period. I am trying to advance career-wise to a position that requires that I take no medication. What can I do to convince my doctor to speed up the process? I see multiple examples online of people quitting cold-turkey or in short time periods. I realize that this can have negative effects, but I am in a hurry. I need my doctor's sign-off saying that I am ok without the meds.

What position requires you to take no medication?
What exactly does propranolol do?

I've dealt with hospitals before they'll tell you one thing and then later chalk it up to tens of thousands of dollars for insurance to pay, it's in their nature to take it upon themselves.

"Propranolol (INN) is a sympatholytic non-selective beta blocker. Sympatholytics are used to treat hypertension, anxiety and panic. It was the first successful beta blocker developed."
