Out of my rye grain jars I inoculated, so far the malaysians have grown enough mycelium to shake and redistribute (+30%) without a problem, but this second strain "Falbino" hasn't shown any progress at all. Is this a more difficult strain to deal with? Temperature wasn't too consistent until yesterday when I finally set up tub/tub incubator and now they're all sitting at ~84-85F Anyone have any input on this Falbino?
4 of my BRF cakes have been dunked last night (in distilled water with ice, not in fridge), today I will be setting up my fruiting chamber. I bought perlite a while ago following videos and whatnot, but noticed the consensus here seems to be coir/verm. So, I will be going with the verm instead, but is there anything I can still use this perlite for or would it be easier/more fool proof just to leave it out entirely?
Will update main post with pics and more info once fruiting starts!

Keep in mind that during colonization, the temperature inside of the jars will be higher than the external temperature. Keeping the jars at this high of temperature will only make them susceptible to contamination and bacteria. Also, it has been proven that incubation is not necessary for mycelium growth. Room temperatures and ambient light are ideal for the growth of mycelium, despite what was previously thought to be true.

Alright so I should probably lower the temp in my incubator. I thought 85 might have been pushing it, thanks. I set up my incubator because I had the equipment anyway and I'm setting the temp in my house to lower 70s for optimal fruiting. so I wanted my mycelium to grow at optimal temp too, because I'm impatient, the worst quality to have for this kind of thing! It seems the mycelium is happier and growing faster at a regulated temp though, but it could just be me..

You will develop patience the more and more work you do. At least, when it pertains to growing. I still feel incredible road rage in traffic and can't stand waiting in long lines. But now, at least I can go multiple days without looking at my jars.
