I used to be really into fight club and its way of thinking. But slowly over time I've come to the realization that its easier just not to fight it. Yeah it may be meaningless but I really enjoy being comfortable and would like to have my own hosue, also don't want to be working shit jobs my whole life gotta get an education. Also don't want to fap my wrist off forever and I don't have it in me to keep pumping my soul into sluts at parties so gotta find a girl I actually like.... The kids thing is a bridge I'll cross when I get there though.

Also all this god talk :puke:

Id much rather serve Zappa than that asshole in the bible though :smug:

This reminds me of a joke I heard once

"There are 4 stages of fucking in a marriage.

1: You fuck everywhere
2: You fuck only in your bedroom
3: You stop fucking
4: You get fucked by your spouse and their lawyer in the courtroom"

Individual differences are obviously what account for the drastic range of different life choices. (Which I think also gets down to biology, because your individual biology influences your preferences, drive, desires, etc. For example the casual sex thing might be linked to oxytocin and vasopressin receptors in the brain - in voles there have been studies that show that if vasopressin receptors are increased, then voles who are naturally polyamorous become monogamous.)

I was just saying biology is in fact what dictates that general path. Economics is what really leads to the emphasis on a career, because those who want their offspring to do well (which is a biological drive) need to be able to provide a good life for said offspring which requires financial stability in most human societies for much of human history.

I dunno, society plays some role obviously but I think it's largely a biological imperative.

The casual sex thing is linked to the hedonistic urge to fuck.  It relates to the lifting of a western taboo.  Fucking is fun.

The emphasis on career?  I didn't see that.  Just get a fucking job and take care of yourself.  Or go native.  You gotta eat.  That's a biological imperative.

Buying a house?  Eh.  Not for everyone and certainly not necessary

Lots of people do without reproducing.  I had no urge to.  Where's the biology?

1,2,4 yes :-)

it didn't make me feel better, only worse, even when I excelled at job and earned a lot and got my education

felt like something was missing

then I did psychedelics and found what was missing

my connection with myself, nature and my creative/spiritual side

now I can be happy without having anything

and removed all worries, I can now be without thinking how to be, and have fun at any time no matter what other people think

before I was never happy, had almost lost all hope in life, no joy
worked studied and slept, for the past many years , forgot most/all social activities due to stress

the more you have the more you fear losing it, and the less you appreciate what you have often
the less you have the more you appreciate what you have often

but we only lose what we are attached to
let it all go, live now in the moment without worries, realize you have everything

society doesn't work that way

once you turn 25-30 you're almost supposed to have girlfriend, children, house, car, important job, a phd etc.
everybody is in such a rush...  you always get asked about it..
I don't even need any of those things right now
just need to be myself :-)

any job is fine, a nonstressing job is often the best work, so you can function afterwards
compared to sitting in a cubicle with 4 different bosses you don't know all day, working 70-80 hours a week, eating pizzas all day and destroying your health, and forgetting to live due to stress

No profit short sale.  The tale is too long but I got over on the crazy bitch in the end.  She stole my canoe and didn't file the joint return she was supposed to but in the end she got well fucked.  Stupid bint.

1. Get an education - Not financially possible right now but I'm trying to save up. Might actually start selling all my things and living a bare-necessities lifestyle until I have enough for the deposit.

2. Get a job - My first and last job really shook me up in a bad way and it's still affecting me. I still want to earn a living but I'm trying to come up with other means of doing that that doesn't involve being the personal verbal punching bag of some bitter miserable manager.

3. Get married -  This I want to do. Nothing fancy or lavish, just the basics.

4. Buy a home - I would want a home at some point but no idea how I would go about getting one.

5. Have children - Not here. Many people in this country look ill all the time, drink way too much and act crazy kind of selfish and disrespectful (and train their own children to be the same at a very early age). Not the best environment for raising a healthy happy child.

Society doesn't dictate anything, you can do whatever you like.
you need to live with the consequences ofc...
