ID request: Very strange puffball-ish object

I just had to post this because it is so bizzare. I'm assuming it's a mushroom surrounded by some kind of egg sack, but I don't know. I couldn't find anything about a puffball with a red nipple online. I'm not interested so much in the cap in the foreground
Habitat: Hemlock forest
Gills: N/A
Stem: Can't really tell as it seems to be surrounded by what may be eggs
Cap: Orange-red
Spore print color: Not observed
Bruising: did not touch
Location: Southern TN, Fiery Gizzard park

Awesome! Thanks so much. I wish I could find more info on its morphology, I'm just really intrigued by the slimy eggs.

This was at the trailhead, so the opposite end of the trail. I live and work very near there. Hit me up if you wanna forage or check out my mushroom farm. I'm calling it fiery fungi (:

That is one freaky fungi. Thanks for the nice pic and the lead, I wouldn't see this in Oregon, looks like.
-------------------- "Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats." "The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."
