Wouldn't have mattered if you did. You premise was still wrong. As I said there's the water bills, maintainence, heating, insurance.
It doesn't work the way you laid it out or guess what..... more people would do it your way.

I pay $600 a month for a decent 1 bedroom efficiency. I live in NY, north of NYC. I've seen my same apartment in manhatten, for $1300. And in other parts of the city like brooklyn and queens for about $1000. Thats a lot!! Good thing I work locally, but most people around here work in the city. If I wanted to work in the city, I would make more, but couldnt have a car if I lived in manhatten. I've heard of parking garages going for $300 a month. Thats wack, I got a free parking spot 20 feet from my apartment door.
I so would live in the city if I were rich though... I dont see why all those people who live in the ghettos in nyc just dont move out here My first apartment in this town was $350, a studio.

The thing is, I live in a very small town, but when it comes to real estate it's the location that matters. Location, location, location. I can't say where I live but let's just say that many apartments here have a full view of the NYC skyline.

Y'know though... It's almost worth any amount of money to have your own place to be. I mean... I've had places I've lived before but never anything that was totally mine, it's groovy.

my soon to be apt. is 435/month and includes electric, water, and heat. It's right on the water front of lake erie, like RIGHT on the water front...i could probably spit out the bathroom window and hit a boat, and security is around at night, fenced in parking lot. it's downtown, but not really in the ghetto or projects...the super expensive condo-apts are right across the way. The only shitty thing will be in the winter, when we here in buffalo get snow storms, we get snow...lake effect=right off the lake....the sky will be crapping on me, and when it does, it will be quite the ubershit of snow

if you guys wouldn't mind posting what state you live in that would be awesome. i'm stuck out here in california and rent, for a single bedroom out of the ghetto starts at about $900/month. i'm really looking to leave this state, yeah everyone wants to come here, but seriously... everyone i know wants to leave. it's way too damn expensive.
did you hear they want to raise vehicle registration by 300%? i just paid $105 for my car, next year it's gonna be $315!? bullshit if you ask me.

you guys are lucky...
a good apartment not in the shithole part of miami is probably going to cost upwards of 600 a month... i've got a two bedroom two bathroom thing going on with some homeboys of mine, we split the rent three ways, and anyone else who wants to crash is gonna have to throw down a few dollars. right now rent is only 550 a month because we are living in the shithole part. w/e though, do what you gotta do
