Are they affecting you? I've got a brother in Idaho. So far they're OK. Just a little smoke in the air. Anyone at risk?... . . .

Not currently, but a few years ago, I was evacuated from my town for about 2 weeks because of a wildfire. It was crazy! We had about 2 hours notice to pack up and get out. Luckily my house didn't burn, but others in the community were not so lucky. I feel bad for those near Yosemite. That is one raging fire.

This was about 3 weeks ago and about 10 miles from me.
 Grants Pass Oregon.
It only got that bad for a day or two at my house. The fires are over an hours drive away so no danger, we just had the worst air quality in the country for about a week or two. This last week you could smell it once and a while but we had a bunch of rain which helped clear the air.
Nice to finally breath again.

I was camping up around 9Kft+ just north a bit outside of Yosemite this past week. The first day we were there was beautiful, a few scattered thunderstorms in the area but clear otherwise.
The following days were cold, dark, and red from the smoke completely blocking out the sun. Chunks of ash falling out of the sky leaving a layer of ash on everything. The plume of smoke was being blown up & over the sierras and we were right along the crest in it's path...
I wish it was clear, but the smoke made for one hell of an interesting vibe & ambiance with a bunch of L in our brains ....felt like we were in a nuclear winter.
The red tinge of the sunlight through smoke made the lichen on rocks and any plants/flowers with bright colors really stand out and pop out. The tracers of ash falling, and the way the smoke looked as it meandered through the air was quite something whilst tripping.

I made a conscious decision today to put my cigarette out in a puddle after seeing a Smokey the bear billboard.
