im thinking pics with rulers would be nice.

hydro grafts 60 days.
given that their are so many graft and grow styles, and types of specimens vary in this contest, some type of scale in pics, would be most informative.

wow, those are 60 days from seed? thats impressive.
i on the other hand have not fared so well. i think 3 have survived. and nothing has really increased in size much. one looks mildly promising. the others appear stalled. oh well...i may have to bow out of this one unless something dramatic happens here.

They are not from seed they are grafted pups. Anne just keeps posting photos of these she isn't in the comp.
Dont give up on them they can stall and all of a sudden start growing.
Cheers Got

id be most interested in seeing a ruler update from goonthen
those are clones.... so handicap 30 days for seed.
the great thing about grafting is, its a relatively democratic sport all ya need is a pereskiopsis twig, a cup, and a seed. essentially anyone can join the fun and have good results.
the differences though ,become apparent, with teks, skills, and equip mods.
i wish all luck, and skill. i expect twists and turns in this contest. those running behind, have faith, i suspect some of the front runners, may see issues as the contest develops.
although im not technically a contestant, my interest here is educational. for both pereskiopsis growing and grafting.
one of you guys/ gals , will gain the upper hand in this contest. and new standards will be set this year. and, im also most interested, in what happens next year......... in the meantime, id like to see accurate scale reporting. rulers, would give a clearer picture, to all.

This is my first year getting to work with grafting and I've got one (lucky) very cool looking 7 head Loph that I grafted at the end of September but I sowed the seeds earlier this summer. Anyways, it just so happens I sowed some seeds right after Halloween, so I'll take that as a sign to join this contest.
Here's a few pictures of the seedlings
These are Lophophora var.caespitosa

These are Lophophora Williamsii

I'm going to be using Pereskiopsis as my grafting stock and I'm leaning towards using the regular Williamsii as scion's. mainly because I feel caespitosa might be too easy and may even pup more than preferred, we'll see.
Might I add how excited I am to see everyone's results, this is truly a wonderful idea, thank you to those who are hosting and perpetuating(for lack of a better word) the contest.

Truth is anyone can graft a half inch button and out pace people sprouting seeds for a month... you're logic is flawed.

um , if they are doing it hydro with LED, please link. otherwise. got pics? with a ruler, and time registered?. feel free to handicap it 60 days.
fact is, if that was the case, it would be commonly seen. its not, therefore, your claim is flawed.
conjecture as ya wish. my growth rate is the same, seed or clone, adjusted for sprouting time. ive never suggested otherwise.
theres a reason, my cacti blog has over 40k hits.
lets see some pics and rulers. dont do it for me, do it for the contest. i would hope the mods, would DEMAND some ruler pics, or, well all be hostage, to inexperienced peeps claims........
i would be MOST interested, in seeing what your doing in hydro LED grafts. you saw mine, it would be rude for you to hold back.
i just scanned your threads.... your an OTD / pubber! you gotz major moxy, crashing a cactus thread. mods, show this fool the door. he insults and soils all grafters of good character!

anna the contest is quickest to flower not largest graft so a ruler is not really needed.
I'll post an update later this week but not much has changed. The days as getting shorter and less intense sun along with 3 scions on the pereskiopsis have caused my graft to slow down to a crawl. I'm considering to start fertilizing the graft heavily like I did last year but still unsure.

im gonna go under the assumption , that the biggest fastest moving grafts, with the healthiest pereskiopsis , under sun, or kickin lights, is gonna flower first.
kill me if i wanna see peeps really amp it up and win here. we all win with an exciting contest.
its a cutting edge cactus tek contest on many levels. most other forums have collapsed. a good percent of the wild cactus growers are here.
im not competing, cuz its flatly not fair. but, i should be able share turbo charge info, to liven stuff up , equal the playing field for all.
all ive shown here, is directly related to the contest. specifically related to health and speed of pereskiopsis. in the direct interest, of increasing competition.
a good contest, with sanity and fairness. my stuff is well known from blogs and other forums. yawn. im wanna to see you guys win here. i wish every last one of you had 10x going as i do. cuz then, we would really have an avalanche of fucking cacti around the globe! grow grow grow. in the new age. grow.
relax, after this contest is well under way, i have my HTTL 3.0 " aerophora " tek coming. and all my grafting stuff will go there.

In reality, you are a try-hard troll. That is all you are "well known" for. You spamming unrelated pictures from your blog, really takes away from the quality of this thread/competition, but I have a feeling you know that.

Please be aware that the contest rules specifically state that you MUST have started from seed that was sown no LATER than Nov 12th. Im not aware of any exceptions being made and handicaps given out. If yours do not meet these requirements, then feel free to post in your own thread.
This thread is not for comparison of contest related entries to your "Hydro whatever".
