Grafting for me starts tomorrow.  I may have to use some peres that were infested with scale before I took care of it but I'm using what I have on hand.  Here are the LW seedlings I'll be using, sowed on the same day the competition began.  I'll update with graft pics soon.  Looks like everyone else is moving right along.

I did some more grafts of the astro mutant mix on the 13th, and another very pale seedling from my own seeds on the 18th.

Here is a quick update on the earlier grafts, these were grafted 29th Sep.

Starting to explode yal! I got new pots in the mail last week so decided to transplant my grafts. I wonder how much that set me back?  Definitely starting to burst but not as much as I'm seeing in other photos.  Got better razors so I hope for better unions on more of my grafts.  Double edge razors are way sharper and thinner then the scalpel blades I have a been using. I hope for less bruising/squishing and flatter cleaner unions.

These three are from my third sowing. I'll update everything with dates soon and use this post for updates from now on. 2 turbini and a redbean astro so far.

First sprout up from my fourth and final round.  A couple came up from my second planting but not planning on using them for the comp.

That Astrophytum is beautiful! Looks like you're going to show off some amazing grafts this year, just like last.

One of my first grafts failed, but this one is doing well.

Bad picture, I know. That's all a phone can do these days.

I have more seeds on the way. I hope they get here in time for me to sow them for the competition!

Nice, Tortoise. What's that substrate you're using, I like the looks of it.

Looks like wet Turface to me. Could be wrong, though. I'm going to do another small round of grafts tomorrow, and check on the one graft that I didn't knock off the stock accidentally. :stoned:

Hey guys,

Today i spot some fungus growing on my containers,
so i was thinking to start spray them with 1/4 strength of fungicide.

I will start mysting with it in 4-5 days, because i dont have it now,
do you guys think is ok to let it be for a while?
Also is it a good schedule every day misting with 1/4 strength?

Not saying you shouldn't, but are you sure the fungi are hurting your seedlings? Some will do no harm and you could be doing worse by spraying chemicals on your babies at such an early stage.

Have a look at this comment I've just written: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19029472#19029472

Green is most likely algae (at this early stages, at least) and it can smother your seedlings. A picture would help identify the problem, but if that's the case you may try to cover the substrate with some gravel to keep them in the dark (as long as your seedlings aren't shaded, of course).

Nice nice.  I just did 20 grafts.  Some Astrophyums from my first sowing, a couple from my second, and a bunch from my third.

Still working on smoothing out the temps since its been dipping outside.  Moving everything away from the window.  Got more stocks rooting up and getting up to size while I wait for my fourth round to arrive and the previous rounds to bulk up or show something.  I think I have  a Turbinicarpus lophophorioides that is a monstrous and one may be variegated.  Might be too young to tell still.  I'm not familiar with germinating them.

Just competed a few more grafts. This will be all that I do for the comp unless something interesting turns up in one of my pots or I feel inspired to graft onto a different stock.

Cheers
Got

I preformed 2 grafts today. 1 trichocereus hybrid (nitrogen cross) and 2 astro mix on 1 pereskiopsis

I'll post pictures in a week when it takes and shows a little growth.

I'll have pics posted tomorrow, but some grafts were done today.  All L. Will.  Those are all I've germinated since the contest began so that's what I'm restricted to using.  Hope everyone's grafts are doing well so far.

If you want to sow any more seed, please do so soon as the sowing deadline is in the next couple of weeks. Remember you are still free to enter if you have not already.
