Need help ID'ing Cow Patty growth

Habitat: Was scouting for quail and dove, walking around in a river bed during monsoon season in Northern Arizona and found these bad boys. Found them yesterday, has been raining for weeks out here now. Noticed that most of the cow patties I run into are dried to the bone, but the ones in the river bed under the shade of trees seemed to be sporing some sort of mushroom. Would love help ID'ing these!!
Gills: attatched gills, appear brown when large enough.
Stem: stems vary from less than an inch to several inches long, caps vary from about a quarter inch across to a full inch.
Spore print color: I'm not sure what the Spore print color means? White?
Bruising: When I flicked the larger of the mushrooms, I noticed no bruising. I did not want to hurt them though.

Anyways, I have taken these home and put them into boxes with trashbags and moist paper towels. I leave a moist paper towel covering the top of it and they are in my backyard. They have grown since I transplanted them last night. We have been getting steady rain for 48 hours so I think it is humid enough. Am I doing the right things? Are these even active? This is really one of the first times I've ever taken steps like this towards hunting/harvesting/cultivating, usually my friends just offer them to me! Thank you for the help!

you have an inactive Panaeolus, probably something closely related to P. papilionaceus and the lighter fragile ones are ink caps. Neither will get you high.

Damn, got a little excited when I found them. Well, are they still edible? Can I use them in an omelet maybe? Thanks for the help, Joust.

If it is P. papilionaceus then it is edible but most people don't enjoy the taste. I would just use store bought mushrooms in your omelette

as for the ink caps, before the gills start to turn black, are edible, and not to be consumed with alcohol apparently.

Please don't make up things and tell them to new users. Many inky caps are very small, short lived, and with untested edibility. Species like Coprinus comatus are edible, but probably not too tasty by time they turn inky. Species like Coprinopsis atramentaria contain a chemical called coprine which reacts badly if you have consumed alcohol before or after eating the mushrooms and will make you sick. I think the op has one of the many small, short-lived Coprinopsis species with untested edibility.

(that is just my personal finding on Coprinus comatus which is what the ones in those pictures look like) i know that atramentaria can be poisonous

Dude, please do not tell new users that fungi with unknown edibility are edible.

Lol. Okay not eating them. Worth letting the spores keep growing and see if any go blue? Don't know much about this.

i'm not sure what you mean by that. They are inactive for sure though. Bluing is when you handle certain active mushrooms and the stripe or pileus (cap) turns blue/green

Yes left out that very important part. bluing can be a good sign but identifying a mushroom solely on Bluing does not mean it is psychoactive and there are some poisonous mushrooms that bruise blue. Always get a trusted identification!
