Spore printing failure: Why?

A few months ago I experimented taking spore prints of some mushrooms in the wild and in the grocery store. None were successful and the question has been in my mind ever since.
Details:
The wild morels and oyster mushrooms were both put on white paper for a few days. Reading at the time that morels posses a different mode of spore dispersal I also placed some morels in cylindrical drinking glasses only to find the glass as shiny as at been when I pulled it from the steaming dishwasher.
Can anyone tell me from there own experience or in principle why these experiments failed?

Maybe they already released the spores by the time you printed them.

Also most mushrooms that you find in the grocery store are often sterile strains.

I've cloned quite a few grocery store mushrooms and I can say with certainty that has not been my experience
Odds are the fresh mushrooms were cleaned a bit before packaging or dropped their spores somewhere in transit.
Why not try cloning your fruits to agar, OP?

cloning isn't exactly printing, tho. He may mean they just don't drop spores while you on the other hand were able to clone tissue.
Definitely agree to try cloning to agar tho!

You misunderstand.

Sterile strain means a strain that produces no spores.
Of course it can be cloned. It is live tissue.
But a cloned fruit from a sterile strain will produce no spores.
I have fruited my clones of grocery store mushrooms.
They have all produced spores, sometimes quite a lot
Sorry if I was unclear.

how do you think its going to get "domesticated"? there has to be a way and it may start with printing/cloning

Didn't know they tasted like cardboard. After searching a bit I found this thread. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18308634
It is possible. It is not recommended.
