I speculate that America is too far gone to make a recovery, and I hope it's end is very soon.
I was born in America but never considered myself one of them, I've been quite disgusted since childhood.

I often ponder what measures it would take to awake a nation to their ignorance, their gullibility, their egos;
and after years of consideration I have come to the personal conclusion- that it takes death.

No words can be said which will make one realize they have been fooled, that the planet is more important than they are, that they are doing it all wrong.
Only with threat of a great tragedy will everyone become one, but then it will be too late. It is what it is.

Freedom, patriotism, faith, all cause the division of people.

YSHServant... I think you are over generalizing a little bit.

The thing is that everyone who grows up in america is taught to be proud. Super Proud. We are the best! Land of the free, home of the brave! We will, we will rock you! The championship of baseball is called the World Series for crying out loud, as if no one else in the world is even comparable, you know?

While everyone else is in the world is not only learning their own language but also the english language because that's what america speaks. Everyone else in the world growing up hears about america's ups and downs now a days. The country is constantly in the spot light and more so than ever. All though, I am biased. I've only ever been to two continents and 3 countries so this is purely my opinion. But now a days the world is so connected with the internet that people in america are finally getting a feel for what the rest of the world has to say about us. I remember not knowing jack shit about any other country growing up in the 90s, not because I wasn't smart but because no one was talking about it.

It's a slow process of lifting the veil and letting america truly understand it's place in the global society.

Not just america, but all countries are more connected now than they every have before.

Canada and the US are really similar. Almost identical. It's like two brothers who don't want to admit how much they have in common.

Really? That's not what we heard when we took out Saddam Hussein who was a brutal military dictator who regularly threatened the US and invaded other countries and used chemical weapons on civilians.

I don't support that war, but make no mistake, Iraq under Saddam Hussein was just as bad or worse than the governments of North Korea, Iran, and Syria. We didn't get any kind of thanks for taking him out even though Iraq was every bit just as bad.

the reason the US went back into iraq is because they violated a surrender
agreement repeatedly, the reason we were there to start with was because
they invaded an allied nation who had requested our help. thanks to the media
spinning different tales most people have no clue

Im so happy to live in the US. Despite the problems and corruption we read about, its nowhere near as bad as most other countries. At any time as a US resident I have the potential to earn enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life. Totally grateful to live in a country that provides me that possibility along with a reasonable level of personal safety and freedoms.

The real problem in the US is the media.
Hopefully the NFL will get a contract with google and we can watch networks crumble as people cancel cable left and right.

The US didn't collapse as you put it patlal.
There's been some downfall over the last decade, but not the way you phrased it. We continue to be the most powerful country in the world regardless of our debt.

I believe the US is a very slow turn in the economy for the better. The housing market has gone up substantially over the past year. Unemployment has dropped. We aren't currently involved in a war except the war on drugs.

Even the war on drugs is going to come to an end in the future as you can see by the numerous states that have legalized medicinal cannabis. As well as the states that have decriminalized cannabis possession altogether.

We still produce the best movies, shows, and music in the world. That's not my opinion, just going by statistics of how much we earn in the entertainment industry compared to other countries.

I understand most of the world has a bad view of America due to the media, but it's really a lot better than what you hear.

I have nothing against Canada even though I make stereotypical jokes about your nation and people all the time, it's purely kidding around. The only thing I can really say is come down here to see for yourself if this isn't still a great country. I truly believe it is. :ameridillo:

Edit: Just wanted to add. My post came from a Brazilian that is moving back down there in just over a month. That should show you how I think of where I currently live.

the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk,
mad to be saved,

There is absolutely no way i'm over generalizing. Have you seen how obsessed people are with sports and celebrities? That is all that matters in this society! How you seen the garbage on television? All the endless stupid, crappy reality shows that aren't even real? People actually believe these shows are real when they aren't! This is just one example of dumbed down the American people are. Don't even get me started on anything else. We would be here all day. As a people we are dead. Most Americans everyday never have their thoughts stimulated. They continue to live in "the matrix"!

Not really. There is not nearly as much violence and Canada news media isn't constantly pumping propaganda 24/7

There was no evidence that saddam did any of that. We just had to take the word of the mainstream media. Same thing now that's happening to Syria, Iran, and NK. For all you know, they are actually the good guys and the US is the horrible dictatorship.
