Learning to use the new cam, no joy on much interesting, but here's what I found close to the McCullough bridge yesterday.

Nice territory, ruined by english ivy

Looks like some type of oyster all dried out, will check on this spot when it's moist later.

The downed tree it was on:

Removed one, left a bit on the log

Closeup of the tubes

"Shrub, 30-90 cm. Leaves 2.5-) 4-9 cm, sessile or amplexicaul, broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, obtuse or rounded to subapiculate or subacute, when crushed not smelling of goats."

"The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."

Why, thankee!  I can get some good shots with macro, but super macro...  I don't get it.  ;-)

Habitat looks sweet, looks like you could hunt for days without making a scratch. Great pics too.

I dunno, never had very good luck where the whole forest floor is covered with english ivy.  It's grueling to try and see what's under it.  Or scotch broom, if there's much at all it seems to drive everything else away, if it's heavy there IS nothing else.

But forest we got.  ;-)
