OP my advice. Forget a laptop. For $600 u can get a decent mid range gaming pc. Considerably more powerfull than a $600 laptop.

Get something like an acer aspire e3-771g I5, and itll have an nvidia gpu in it. Make sure to get an ssd for it.
They have 2 hard drive compartments, so when you get your ssd, make your ssd primary, and use the stock hard drive as secondary, and make sure to install your OS to the ssd.
Install your games to the secondary drive.
Check out newegg.com

I checked that out. That looks to be pretty ideal. Thanks. I looked at Newegg, Amazon and Walmart. Walmart has Acers for a hundred bucks less than anywhere. I am pretty sure this is the ticket.

Highly doubt it; You could build a nice gaming desktop with that budget, but no way could you build a good gaming laptop with that budget.

If all he wants to play is Diablo3 though, that little acer should be good enough.
OP if you are looking on walmart and finding them for hundreds less.. make sure it's the same model.. the one that person mentioned has a GT 650M in it, which should be fine to handle games like D3.

Not for D3, that's basically as graphically intensive as WoW was 5 years ago. Anything should be able to run it pretty much.
Other games, yeah.. enjoy running at low/med settings with that resolution. But actually, a 650m should be able to hold its own well enough. It's not going to max out FPS at max settings in games, but it should be able to handle most games at medium-ish settings with somewhat decent FPS. But yeah that $600 would go a fuck of a lot father in a gaming desktop.
If I were buying a "Gaming" laptop, I would be expecting to spend at least 1200-2k.

Build it yourself. You'll get way more bang for your buck.

Actually not everyone was a noob. Being a noob is a very new phenomenon. Many people, the great majority in fact, were simply "beginners", "novices" or "new to mushroom growing". Being a "noob" is reserved, and in fact created specifically for and by, the newer, much more lame generations coming about. -Shpongle1

Even the Intel HD 3000 onboard graphics should be "Ok" to play games like D3 at low/medium settings. CosmicJoke posted a link the other day of a laptop with HD 3000 graphics, running Skyrim at low settings.. so if it can handle Skyrim it should be able to handle alot more games. But even still I would definitely go with a laptop with a dedicated Nvidia GPU, it's only a bit more.. and the integrated graphics will only take you so far... and who wants to play all their games at low settings?

It was actually Haswell HD 4400 running Skyrim, these laptops can be had at 768p with an i5 chip for like $500-600. The low res actually helps when trying to game on an iGPU heh.
I found the 2013 macbook air w/ HD 5000 running Diablo 3 @ 1440x900
I don't think I've actually seen a PC laptop w/ HD 5000 and I'm not quite sure what the difference in speed between it and HD 4400 are but I feel like I read they were pretty much the same... I think there's also going to be an Iris Pro HD 5200 or something on par w/ a gtx 650m? Will have to wait til more of these laptops roll out I guess...

Personally, even if laptops can run such games, squinting at a 17" monitor isn't particulary comfortable.

After gaming on 1080p 25" monitors, even my laptop's 19" screen seems way too small..

That I've had since 2008, yeah. It was 2k back then. I don't use it at all now unless I take it on vacation. Dual 8800GTXm in SLI what what, 1440x900 resolution heh. Still plays games.
But I game on my desktop
