using "stalled" brf jars?
    #18752379 - 08/24/13 05:09 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

hey everybody. I knocked up 12 jars pf style 2 weeks ago, 6 are albino and 6 are Treasure Coast. All of the Albinos are almost 100% colonized but none of the Treasure coast are anywhere close to it. 1 TC jar is about 65% and the other 5 are from 25%-40%. My question is...If I was to hook up some WBS in a half gal jar and break any non-colonized BRF off of the cakes then crush the cakes up really good, throw them into to WBS jar and shake the crap out of it...What would you say my chances of success are?
The reason I'm asking is because it really seems to me that the TC jars are not making any progress for about 3 days or are moving extremely slow.

chances are you will just contaminate your WBS.

Give it another week. 3 weeks of waiting is not unheard of for cakes.

Sometimes you just get slow genetics with MS. MS is a crap-shoot.

The WBS will not likely colonize any faster than the cakes will.

Don't use 1/2 gal jars. They are slow to colonize and tricky to get moisture and sterilization right. Stick with quarts and smaller.
