First Active Find!!!

Sorry about the picture it is very blurry. Here is the Panaeolus cyanescens (i believe) You can see the dark bluing. LOC: SWFL Bluing: YES habitat: COW POO

Quite the story about this bugger. I waked this field for an hour maybe finding only Panaeolus Antillarum and then I found a path that led to another field. On this path I saw it and went to grab it and a snake was right there. Scared the hell outta me! I noticed a little blue spec on it and squeezed right there and throughought the next few minutes i became happier and happier as i looked down at it and it turned darker and darker blue. I had it cupped in my hands and was walking back when my stupidity hit me. I hadnt paid attention to the DARKEST clouds ive ever seen that were directly overhead. It was raining super hard at this point when i went to take the pic of it which is why its pretty blurry. I cupped it in my hands and raaaaaan. I saw some old tram cars about 3 football fields ahead, and ran through the open fields screaming while lightning was cracking down and the booms were getting louuuud. When i got to the train car i said screw it im going to die anyway and i ate it. I spent the next hour in the train car looking at the lighting which was amaaazing just contemplating about life. And then i longboarded 4 miles back to campus when it passed. Quite the story for a first active find huh?

Awesome man! I've been caught out in the rain more times than I can count. Our state leads the nation (and is second only to Rwanda, Africa apparently) in lightning death/injuries, so I'm always worried when the storms come in and I'm miles away from shelter.
Congrats on the find, definitely Panaeolus cyanescens!

Ah but it was fresh! A little mushroom like that probably has a very high variance in potency between fresh and dry. Blue meanies! I want to try them sometime. I'll have to travel south and go on a hunt sometime. I don't know any farmers though...

I'll probably just go to south GA or Florida. I also know someone with cattle in Louisiana, but that's a good drive. I think i'm content with weilii, but I just don't know...

High in baeocystin, no? Is there ever any "greenish" tones to the oxidation?

According to a few sources, P. cyan are quite low in baeocystin.
