First of all remove the vendor name.
Ditch the whole kit idea and go for a shotgun fruiting chamber.
Put the cakes on foil or lids
Light will work put it on a 12/12 timer.

Thanks for the feedback! I've considered the shotgun idea, just thought I'd go for something a bit different that works pretty well from what I've heard. If it doesn't work out to my satisfaction ill switch to a shotgun style.

I have an aquarium heater and air pump with bubble wands to distribute air and heat through the Perlite or lava rock substrate (still need advice on what would work better).
There is no such thing as a hydro shroom.
When people hear that term they should run the other way.
Build a proper SGFC and you will get WAY better results.

What substrate? The lava rocks/perlite is not substrate, the cakes go on coasters of some kind in the FC.
Lids or foil both work.

This will do nothing for humidity.

cswizzle said: I assume the air pump should create sufficient air flow, but I can't see harm in fanning it out once a day like other teks. I plan to inoculate the jars with Golden Teacher strains. Any advice is greatly appreciated as it's my first grow attempt. I feel like I have a fairly firm grasp of many different teks and methods before I decided upon this one. I'll post pictures of how it goes! As well, I plan to use a 60 watt CFL lamp as my light source.
Chances are the air pump is not going to be sufficient enough.
The "HydroShroom" setup is a joke, made specifically to separate you from your money...just to get piss poor results in the end.
Build a proper SGFC and forget about the air pumps.
Also, you want 6500K Daylight bulb on a 12/12 schedule....they come in CFL.

I'm just sharing my personal experience. When I got into cultivation, my research led me to build the same exact thing you're building. It worked, but I achieved much better results with a shotgun.
FAE was very poor.

The SGFC is cheap and reliable. The setup you are describing will not be as good for the mushrooms as the SGFC. The humidity and fresh air exchange will be all messed up because of the pump, heater and standing water. Your fruiting chamber will no perform very well, compared to a SGFC. You should definitely read up on it, if you haven't done that yet.

Thanks alot for the Input! I'll switch to shotgun style fruiting chamber. I should be able to make one out of the supplies I've already purchased. Any tips before I get started?
