8 sickened by synthetic marijuana on Ga. coast 11:21 a.m. EDT August 24, 2013 - usatoday.com
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) — Police in Brunswick say eight people had to be hospitalized after smoking a form of synthetic marijuana.
Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering says three people had to be treated in intensive care, and the five others were released.
All the smokers were between 16 and 25 years of age.
Doering says the eight became ill after smoking a substance called "Crazy Clown" that was made in Colorado and purchased at a store in Brunswick.
The substance is called synthetic marijuana or spice. It's a form of incense.
No one has been arrested, and Doering says lab tests are needed to determine if the substance had chemical compounds that are illegal under Georgia law.

& in related news, nobody in GA or anywhere else was sickened or hospitalized by smoking actual marijuana...
keep it green, keep it real...

I've smoked crazy clown before and had no issues. Was a long time ago though; and it's certainly possible there is more than one brand of Crazy Clown spice

May be the same brand even but a different batch. Perhaps they fucked up in the process of making that particular batch. Anyone delving into RCs should know that branded RCs are dangerous as you don't know what is in it or how much. Sticking to marijuana is obviously the better choice but you can see why people would rather smoke this shit if they need to take drug tests. It would be safer to get the actual chems and make your own formulation at a known dosage.

Yeah that synthetic shit is for the birds. When kids get sick of plastic they'll remember where their bread is buttered and go on home to good ol' mama mary jane.

Unfortunately because of the shitty world we live in, price is not the only deciding factor in choosing weed over synthetics. Think of all the probationers or workers who are routinely tested for the real thing and just want to relax at the end of the day.
If we could stop the ubiquitous privacy-invading drug testing, you'd see a lot less news stories like this.

A drug test is an invasion of privacy? Makes sense, but i would still loose my job if i smoked weed and tried that theory.
Question i had today was, say weed was made legal either state and or federal level, could your employer still test you or punish you for using a non illegal product? I would think the company policy would have to be changed right? Or would they play it off like with alcohol.

Make it company policy to have tests and hire based on results just like it is now. Pot smokers will be discriminated against even after it's legal.

The problem is that thc shows up in your system for up to a month and due to that, if a person was to smoke every day after work, it would show on the piss test. Just like the cops, the employers take that as a sign of being under the influence, even a person hasn't smoked in 24 hours. That's where people would get fucked for "drugged driving" if they came up with some kind of rooty-poop roadside test. No matter what, the powers that be are going to milk the anti-pot thing for all its worth, legal or not.
