How long can I leave rye berries straining for?
    #18750661 - 08/24/13 09:16 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

So my berries are soaking from yesterday, but I made plans that unfortunately screw up with my plans to pressure cook them. I can't leave them in the water, so I'm about to boil it a bit.

My question is if there is a period of time that I can leave them straining by themselves  unnatended without compromising anything .

How about just putting them into the jars until you can PC them?

I suppose. Since they will be strained, would there be no problems of condensation or humidity if left in the jars?

i alwys let my berries sit in a strainer to drain for at least an hour after boiling. i then put it in jars which i sterilize in the PC. i assume you could let the rye sit for longer before it started loosing its moisture content but i would't leave it for the majority of a day or something

When the exteriors are dry & up to 48 hours.

Ideally, you'd use & PC them as soon as possible, but a two day waiting period won't hurt.
