Ever just find yourself noticing the little innocuous minutia of your everyday world. Like a picture on a label or something and all of a sudden realize this place is totally weird? I mean totally?

Have you ever heard of jamais vu?

I used to get it heaps, especially when meeting friends who I knew very well but hadn't seen for a while.
I think a solid jamais vu hit is like a ten second psychedelic experience, sometimes a bit longer. I reckon the reason why I took to psychedelics without resistance is because I'd been primed by jamais vu.
Often I'd look around in a classroom at everyone with their heads down and just think "What the holy fuck is this place?"

"How strange it is to be anything at all.."
You ever listen to these guys? If you can get past the singer's voice (and, I guess, too, if you like trumpets) then this is a complimentary album to the thread. Reminded me of it, anyway.
I never really get that feeling. Maybe it's a reason I haven't had a controllable lucid dream. I mean, like the example given in the wiki article on jamais vu, I will start to feel that a word is unreal after writing or saying it repeatedly. I've vaguely felt that way when visiting NYC or on acid.
What made you start the thread? I can only imagine something funny, in the sense of Kafka or Murakami, sparked it.

Everyday...
This is a point I like to drive as often as possible in everyday conversation, especially when people are taking things a little too seriously.
Feeling and seeing the bizarre nature of the circumstances we have found ourselves in really helps me embrace and express who I am too, which is very much at odds with what culture thinks I should be.

Had that sort of thing occur a fair bit during my psychotic breaks for example when looking in the mirror or looking around at things I owned in my room.
I get the impression it happens to everyone but no one knows what to call it so instead of being like "Oh jamais vu" they say they zoned out or lost focus or something of the sort.

Yesterday, I was outside doing an open-eye meditation, and I thought of this thread. The longer I looked into the forested hillside that was in front of me, the more it became something strange.. like it lost its identity. It was like there was no longer any depth, if that makes sense.

The more you dose 2C-E, the deeper your own forest gets.

Reminds me of how repeating a word over and over for a few minutes will make it lose all meaning. Semantic derealization FTW!

Ya, i get that all of the time.
Do you guys ever start thinking about how easily you could kill yourself and others around while driving? I get this weird urge to suddenly twist the wheel on the highway, and this kicks me into survival mode which leaves me with a really high heart rate/anxious.
I get feelings like this whenever i'm doing something dangerous.

Yeah, that's why it really pisses me off when someone I'm riding with will pull out their phone or iPod or whatever and start flipping through their music, not paying attention to the road.. It's like they forget that they're in a situation in which they could kill me, themselves, and others around them in an instant.

An old roommate of mine used to drive through parking lots while looking under or behind his seat for CDs, literally looking nowhere near the steering wheel for 10+ seconds at a time. Would do the same shit at high speed on the highway. One thing I'll give him credit for is driving on dozens of hits of acid, I would barely be able to talk and this guy would be going 100mph down the highway
