Upstate NY grow questions

A friend of mine who lives in Upstate NY (he actually turned me on to this site, though he's to paranoid to create an accout) wants to do his first indoor bulk grow (we are both new to bulk & live in similar climates, so this should be helpful for me as well), but he can't afford to heat his grow room. It can get a bit chilly in both our areas, especially at night, so he(we) wanted to know the best teks & species of cubes to use. I think a mono using straw & hpoo as sub for B+ should work ok. He kinda agrees with me on the sub, but is unsure about the mono, especially a SGFC style (I'm iffy about the SGFC myself, but really like the idea). He also is in favor of P. mex for his spores. I'm not sure they would do too well in either of our areas. Any feedback, tips, suggestions, ect would be helpful.

Ok first cubensis is a the species and there are different "races" an most people will tell you a cube is a cube and that all races within the cubensis species are the same. With the exception of penis envy
If Ur in ny growing indoors room temps will be fine no new for heating it. I'd start with cubensis rather then the p.mex bcuz I can sorta see that you don't rele know too much about mycology and the exotics r more difficult
Next a SGFC is used for cakes not bulk bulks use mono tubs with 2in holes filled with polyfil
Lastly for sub use a manure verm coco mix. Straw is more difficult to pasteurize and often causes a contam. I'd say don't use straw there is no benefit to cubes to use straw.
And be extremely careful with Ur pasteurization don't try some experimental bullshit use jars to pasteurize and monitor it maticulasly
Have fun

Whats the night temp of the grow room and any other info that could help? Kilroy "A TiT(tub in tub) is very east and pretty cheap. I use two smaller rubbermaid containers since all I do is pf-cakes right now. The most expensive part is the fully submersiable aquarium heater and they go for about 20-30 dollars in most pet stores. On top of the fridge in a dark box is another way to do it, most are pretty close to the right temp. Hope this helps." This could be used for mono's or big grow too

Cheers! Thanks for the info folks. You are correct that I am new to the hobby & I dont know blight about exotics. I think my buddy was talking about Psilocybe Cubensis Mexi-Cub-Mexico & I probably misunderstood (as neither of us are ready to work with anything outside of cubes yet). As anyone can see, at least I, need to do some more bulk study. I work with horses so poo is a sinch. I also have Rubbermades (big ones & little ones) falling out my arse, lol. You have been very helpful, both of you. HariH Om!
