Just curious about this HEPA rated filter for my Shop Vac
    #18748319 - 08/23/13 06:05 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys, I found an interesting filter for my shop vac. I normally use the 3 layer filter which is blue, and says it captures anything over half a micron. While browsing the Home Depot website, I found a green filter, which says it removes 99.97% of all particles 0.3 microns or greater. Here is the link:
http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-5-Layer-Allergen-Filter-VF6000/100022800

I know I most likely could not build any type of flowhood out of this, but I imagine it would be effective at just helping me clean the crap out of my grow room, and the rest of my house for that matter, to reduce any existing mold spores or other possible airborne contaminants.

What do you guys think, worth the extra $10 or a waste of money?

I wouldn't count on it helping much.

" Allergens cleaned from the air might include particles such as pet dander and pollen."

"Filter made with HEPA-rated material but does not meet EPA or RRP guidelines for certified HEPA filtration"
