Classes started last Wednesday. Looking forward to learning as much as I can this semester. Got homework due next week. I'm good at these things, so i'm aiming for A's in all three classes.

Good stuff, Droz. I'm a developer too. I currently work with Ruby on Rails, HTML5 and Javascript primarily, though my progression was VB->Java->C#->Ruby. VB is a great place to learn the basics of designing standalone applications with GUIs. Java's a monster, but a great way to learn logic and patterns. One thing I think you'll notice quickly is how different those languages are structured.
Good luck, and try not to get overwhelmed with the inevitable homework that'll come with any CompSci class.

I'm guessing html also includes css and java script, and that you realize that java is a compiled language and has nothing to do with html
Sorry, I gotta stop throwing in redundant advice into these generalized threads

I prefer c++ to .net and c#, although I know c# has more purpose in the business world

You'll enjoy VB, I have loved it since I took the class for VB6 back in 1999. Easy to pick up and expand on as well. Good luck this year!
