Help with rye berry colon.
    #18746046 - 08/23/13 08:15 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

So I've been doing agar and do have an active thread up for that, I have a serious question about my rye berry jars though.

Here is what they look like after a agar wedge has been put in both for about 5 days or so.

I know for a fact that the mycelium is having a hard time to grow.

When they were put in there, I had really GOOD rhizo growth on both dishes and seemed to me a good isolate.

I have never once done rye berries with polyfil hole, maybe to much gas exchange is happening?  Are my hole to big or polyfil to loose?
My holes are about the size of a nickle on each jar and filled not extremely tight but nice and snug.

fuckkkkkk

Thanks guys

I would shake it and move the wedge towards the center of the jar.....buried in grains.

:whathesaid:

That wedge is recovering just fine. It is trying to find food and having scant success due to its position on top of the grains.

NOTAHACKER420 thank you for that fast response, I did JUST shake them babies up.  I feel A LOT better that Ive finally done something else to hopefully promote growing a little more.

i shook dah fuck outaa em and got them in the middle lol.

i was just not wanting to shake when i threw the agar wedge in there due to what RR said.  He mentions the mycelium takes more time to recover if you knock it off the agar before it grows on the grains,  so basically shaking the jars from the get go he said the mycelium would recover on the agar first before moving to the grains.  Looks good now though!

I have a good feeling guys :0
