ID help please!
    #18744959 - 08/22/13 11:28 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Hello, I´m new at the page and English is not my native language, so, after reading the posts about how to post an ID request I´ll do the best I can.

Habitat: cow field, among mountains (elevation 4200 ft), humid place, cold, full of pines and other conifers. Found them exclusively in cow dong. Rain season at this time.

Gills: grey/black, attached (I suppose, can´t tell actually, there´s a picture)

Stem: White, fragile, not hollow

Cap: light brown, almost white, in the direct sun it gets a metallic like color, like bronze. Found some covered with very fine black powder (spores, I suppose?)

Spore print color: jet black

Bruising: Black, not much, rather resistant

Location: Central Mexico

They smell like fresh champignon, nice actually.

Here come the pictures, I did the best I could with my crappy phone camera, I hope they are useful. I think there was only this kind of mushrooms, so they all are Species #1

My guessing is they are Copelandia Cyanescens, or some kind of Panaeolus that I can´t ID. Even if they aren´t active, they are not poisonous, right?

Thank you!!

They look like Panaeolina foenisecii, but I'm not very good with Panaeolina.

I think Pan foe's have brown spores, so I don't think these could be them cause in the first picture you can clearly see black spores.

Good point. Also, pan. foenisecii generally doesn't grow directly out of dung.

Even with all the information I was hoping these mushrooms to be at least  a little bit active, ate 6 of them, nothing :frown:

But the hunting and investigation is really fun!!, I can se why so many people like it, one can get used to this thrill!!
