Ive been doing research. Just saw these grow over the past few days. Grabbed em before something else did as they were on the walking path at my job. Now from what I've seen JOL and chanterelle(spelling) are kinda wavy around the edges. These are tight almost perfect circles. Its very very orange. Couldnt see any glowing. I didnt look till about 2 hrs after picked. Its actually 3-4 clusters all on the side of a stump. The soild was kinda loose, a mix of mulch and tree droppings and grass clippings. Nothing live or green too close to it. This is new york. About 1hr north of nyc and 1hr south of albany. There was also this dark colored wonderer loosely laying about a foot away.

Working on prints now. I would think a big orange cluster would be easier to visually ID. But guess I was wrong. JOL seems to indent in the middle. These are just riund on top

Jackos baby. Give 'em a day or two and they'll start looking more like it. They just started fruiting here a couple days ago too. Look at the gills. I guess they look chanterelle like but I'm just not seeing how anyone could confuse the two. Anyways... I think they're pretty photogenic when they're young like that.

I think they are Omphalotus. The caps are convex when young.

I've found a bunch of Orange Omphalotus species, but never on pine, and never with such long stipes. These almost look like an Armillaria. But I really don't know. Very cool pics.

They look pretty much like most pictures of JOL I'm seeing online, presenting in a cluster at the base of rotting wood, with a little bump on top, cap margins nice and rounded. There were some pictures of ones with shorter stems and wavy cap margins as you mentioned BUT read that JOL on the east coast can look different than those found on the west coast?
The bioluminescent qualities of the gills are reputedly hard to reliably observe, and must be done in pretty much pitch dark after your eyes have become accustomed to low light conditions.

I didn't even see that little guy on the other side of the stump. It looks like some kind of Russula sp. to me just based on the stipe.

They look very similar to the ones I posted the other day. We figured Omphalotus.
