Is this free manure I picked up any good?

Hey everyone I'm very new to mycology, I'm just 2 weeks into my first grow. Anyhow I came across a guy that was trying to get rid of a lot of horse poo and I grabbed up a large bag of it. When I opened it up it contained about 70% manure 15% straw 15% pine chips all mixed. I am just wondering if the mixture is going to cause me problems in a bulk grow of cubes. and if anyone knows if I would be able to grow Portabella with this as a sub. any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

It will work just remove most of the wood chips, Psilocybe cubensis does not prefer wood, it's enzymes are not designed to break down lignin. Although they can adjust over time, it will not be efficient, wood doesn't hold much moisture either, and your mushrooms are 90% water, so you want a moist substrate. Dung and straw is excellent though, make sure your dung is not fresh also. You want dried dung.
As for using this to grow Portabello, it wouldn't be a very good option. I've grown a ton of species in the genus Agaricus and have done much reading on them. Basically they are secondary decomposer and don't do well with rich substrates such as fresh dung and straw. As I've done personally and as Paul Stamets recommends, you can use a spent substrate (such as from growing cubes), then break it up, re-pasteurize it, and use it as an Agaricus substrate (portabello). Or just use very old cow dung for Portabello, or a good compost.

I've had my manure laid out on a tarp in the sun for the last 2 days, it rained twice and I sprayed it all down really good with a hose. I think I am going to leave it alone until it dries out all the way. Picking out the pine chips is going to be tough because it looks to me like there are a lot of very small chips in there. I'll try to get some of the big ones out. That should be easy once the pile is all dry. I have been reading one of Stamets' books, I read the part about using different mushrooms for different phases of composition but I didn't get to anything about portabellas yet. Thanks for the help.
