hey there sponge here wanna know if any of you guys have actually seen a ghost.in my 30 years on this earth I have never seen a ghost although I have heard one, here my story
when I was 14 I was sent to boot camp/juvinille prison camp place for six months.it was deep in the spring mountains of neveada and obviously on indian ground as we would sometimes find arrow heads.well people used to sneak cigerettes up there and we would sneak down to this ditch to smoke the cigs.one night about 3 or 4 of us were sharing cigerettes down in this ditch and all of a sudden we hear this indian drum beat out in the distance.we were like "wtf is that?!"..well we continue to listen and the drum beat starts getting closer..finally the drum beat sounds like its 10 feet away but theres nothing there but dark ass woods.we all freaked out and scurried up the ditch back to our cabin.we rounded up all the guys in the cabin and took them to the back of the cabin and we all could hear the drum beat as it slowly faded away.really crazy, the mountains and the land there IMO was very spiritually charged anyone else have any ghost experiences?

I've never seen a ghost, but when I was really young we stayed at my grandmother's house in rural Michigan -- this house was like a 100 plus years old. While I slept there that night I kept hearing the freakiest shit in the attic above. Footsteps. Like all night long. Dude I just pulled the covers over me and prayed for morning to hurry up. That was one of the longer nights of my life.

When my friend and I were like 10 or 11 we would spend the days of summer in his grandmothers old Victorian house.
We were sitting in this upstairs bedroom with two beds paralleling each other and there was an old chest in between them with an old rocking horse toy.
We were just sitting there talking about how old the house was and the thing started fucking rocking violently. Scared the shit out of me,man.
Then when I was 14 or so I was in my friends attic where his bedroom is...I was sleeping over. Again,an old Victorian house.
In the attic of this house over the years there was a suicide in his room...along with a brutal murder. His parents confirmed these things when I called bullshit on him.
Anyway...we were just laying in the room trying to sleep and I hear footsteps right in front of my fucking feet. Then the radio turns off and I'm just sitting there in pure terror as the footsteps leave the room.
We left his room and played video games for the rest of the night.
Those are my only ghostly encounters as of right now.

I see ghosts often. Like every couple of months it happens. Totally out of the blue with no real correlation between events (except once or twice). I've also had ghosts communicate with me. Sometimes it can be a voice, other times it is just a presence which communicates in ideas and concepts.
What bothers me the most is that it doesn't happen to 99% of the population, so I can't relate with anybody about it. I've had crazy experiences while hanging out with friends numerous times, and I always just keep my mouth shut so I don't sound loony.
I don't like the word ghost because it has such a strong connotation tied to it. Who really knows the intricate details of what I'm experiencing

I have no ghost stories.
I guess one has to believe in ghosts in order to see/hear them.

I wouldn't say this is entirely true. I didn't believe in ghosts even after I saw my first one. I was a child and nobody believed me, so I just suppressed the experience and forgot about it.
It wasn't until a much more vivid experience in my adolescence that I was unable to deny what was happening. And even then, it took some serious coping to be able to accept the situation. I thought I was a total nut for a while.

What I was trying to say is that I don't think they exist.
I don't mean any disrespect to you. I believe you and many people have had these bizarre experiences, I just do not think ghosts were the reason.

To each their own.
You'd have to be one gullible motherfucker to believe something so crazy without first hand experience.
So hey, I don't really expect you to believe me. That's why I typically don't share my experiences

Well, I don't think I've typed that one up yet, but here's a post I made about the very first time I saw one: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15288446#15288446

Yeah, I understand his position, and it's the most common reaction I get when I talk about the subject. Honestly, it's the logical position to take. Like I said, you'd be gullible to believe something so crazy if it didn't happen to you.
Plus, my experiences don't coincide with most peoples ideas of reality; so I don't expect a story by word of mouth to change the very foundation of someone's perception.

If it's of any consolation I believe you but then again I gave up on logic a long time ago :P

http://homes.yahoo.com/news/ten-of-america-s-most-haunted-houses.html?page=all
Entertaining read on the 10 most haunted homes (according to the article) in America. I've heard of a few of these. Imagine locking yourself in one of these for a full night with nothing but a flashlight. On 5 grams. Electricity shut off. I don't know that I believe in ghosts, yet I doubt I could do it.

After your first couple of experiences, it's not so frightening.
I'd love to visit some of the most haunted homes in America and do some entheogenic work there. A small dose of mushrooms is a really great way to open yourself up to those other planes of existence.

Never seen a ghost before But seen various kinds of spirits, both good and bad and felt them, they usually transferred thoughts to me or others, in trips (but usually only see the eyes everywhere+messages when that happens, usually messages that help me or help me help others after it)
I think the people you should talk to if you want ghost stories are schizophrenics they see ghosts/spirits all the time often, at least those that I know you're never alone, they say even when you're with them, they say something is watching you kinda creepy sometimes (sometimes they can talk with them)
I do believe in reincarnation though (that the soul is eternal) just don't see any spirits in daily life, only when I smoke/trip but I think spirit communicates in other ways in daily life, lots of weird things happening i.e. have had some weird stuff happen lately, not sure what causes it it seems unrandom, always 3-5 weird things happening each day, sometimes at once often learn from strangers(meet 3-4 strangers at once that say just what I need to hear)... or from nature/animals..
but I realize the soul is equally great in every living creature, animals are pretty clever, just observe
life events are often not very random, and especially not spiritual events everything looks predetermined
edit: also see spirits in lucid dreams often my whole life

Interesting point you bring up about reincarnation. I also believe in reincarnation. But I also believe in the Mahayana concept of a Bardo. I think some spirits get caught in the Bardo for longer than others. "Ghosts" could be spirits existing in the bardo, or they could be spirits that have established an existence in a different plane that still shares some relation with our own.
It's hard to offer any real conjecture on the subject. All I can go off of is the details of my experiences.

I've had a few experiences but I'm having a hard time believing now that I'm older I find myself looking for other possible explanations regardless of how I felt at the time
I don't believe ghosts are the souls of the dead I think of them as left over energy like grooves on a record player
