Anyone ever grown plain bread yeast? Have any advice or tips?

I'm just trying to take a regular packet and expand it. I've put it in basically a standard LC solution and it seems to have grown to a point and stopped. I don't know when to add more sugar (it still tastes sweet), if I should add flour or other things, etc. Surprisingly enough I can't even find a single person growing yeast outside of brewing on google.

I don't know about continuing to grow out a packet of commercial yeast, but you can make a sourdough starter which will contain plenty of wild yeast by simply mixing a cup of flour and a cup of water in a non airtight container. Everyday take out half of the mixture and replace it with a fresh half cup of flour and water. In a couple of weeks you will have a healthy culture full of yeast that rises every day.
I have done this for years, its super simple and the bread you can make is delicious. What are you trying to grow out yeast for?

Oh, I must have missed it, I didn't see that there was a food forum. I've heard about the sour dough method before, which I may also do, but I'm just trying to grow regular yeast atm. I know it's cheap, just got back from the store and baught a jar in fact because I'm out other than my little starter culture, but I like doing things myself both for the learning experience and because the end product is always that much more rewarding.
I try to be as self sufficient as possible. Half the food I've eaten in the past ~4 months I've grown myself, everything I've eaten for awhile now I've cooked myself, and I'm even thinking about growing my own cereal grains next year. I don't value money particularly much, which is a good thing because atm I hardly have any at all, probably less than 20$ to my name. I'd rather work 10 hours for myself and earn 10$ or a bunch of usable products than work 2 hours for someone else doing something I don't believe in, for someone I don't respect, and make 50$. I love working so long as it's honest and something I believe in. I haven't spent more than maybe 50$ in the past 2 months, I'm working more than I ever have in my life, and I'm stronger, feeling healthier, and genuinely happier than I've ever been.
