Humans got immediately greedy, starting wars, pillaging etc.Over the simple fact of landownership and superiority. The leaders of countries throughout the ages have just used religion as a cover up for stealing land. At least that's my 2 cents

We are animals.
Despite what we may try to ascend to, humanity as a whole behaves like any other organism.
We respond to stimuli in our environment.
It is nothing to kill.
Note that morality is conceptual. The world is amoral. It is neither inherently moral, nor inherently immoral.
Try Jared Diamonds books, he lays out a strong case for viewing human history from an environmental perspective and by environmental I do not mean green.

I personally think humanity has completely lost touch with God, which is consciousness. If we knew we were God, we would do a lot better for ourselves. There is also a lack of consciousness quality in society. People go for the mediocre and they don't explore other aspects of themselves and so live mediocre lives. Eventually a mediocre population is going to become sick of itself. Boredom makes for hostility, and crappy people make crappy parents, and crappy childhoods make serial killers, gangsters, etc.
Humanity is so, so sick. To kill another human being takes a very high level of mental illness, and it happens all the time. We are completely out of touch with our good nature.
What's your take?
"if we knew we were God"
Egoïsm, cancer of the human race.

it's constantly improving, would anyone here trade their life to go work in a Victorian cotton mill or to 'help' build the pyramids?
maybe we are getting royally fucked atm by big money, war greed and savage eco destruction but mentality is changing and things will begin to advance in a proper fashion.

That's kind of bias. There are plenty of cool jobs from that period. Could also grow all the weed you wanted.

You know you could have just said lost touched with consciousness instead of mucking your whole point up with God. However, with that said, the earth is fuckin' great and humanity has literally never been better. It is the best time to be alive and although I will say humanity has its problems, I couldn't disagree with you more.

1 in 25 people is a sociopath, a person who's conscience is severely eroded or absent. These people typically have little or no defense against the Dark Side that exists in all of us because they dont recognize it as such or dont mind it. As a consequence their dark side rules many of them for most of the time.
With sociopaths people tend to think of the maladjusted ones, but a large percentage are quite adjusted and permeate most forms of leadership in all the world since time immemorial
We are led, not by the best of us, but by the worst of us, the ones indifferent to suffering of others or even fond of it. Business, govenment, law enforcement, the military, they're saturated with these people who are oblivious, inert or defiant of the moralities of being human.
They are wolves in sheeps clothing, intraspecies predators. They are the fox in the chicken coop of mankind.
APD
We used to call em in leage with satan, then we called them psychopaths, now the more sanitized "antisocial personality disorder" but its the same people, and its one in every twenty five of us. You met a number of em in your life and several of them are reading this.

why would i have to expressly point out something that is common knowledge?
of course modern medicine is far superior than 100 years ago, so in terms of health, things improve with time.

Because it wasn't the point being refuted silly. Not necessarily. Who knows what antibiotic resistant strains and retro viruses await us. Genetic manipulation could cause all sorts of problems. There is now a strain of gonhorhea that is impervious to all antibiotics. Not to mention modern diet and pollution being a major contributor to health problems. ...since we're getting pedantic

okay my initial point you disagree with is that things are improving, yes?
one aspect of life, is work.
i gave examples of points in history where i personally would not be as satisfied with the employment options available to me, you disagree, because there are 'cool jobs' from 'that' period in history (no examples given)
care to elaborate as to why you think things are going downhill?
