Hi all,

There were lots of them everywhere. I think they are agaricus sp. but which? Do you have any idea?

Habitat: a meadowy area

Gills:
Brown free gills, medium spaced

Cap:
Yellow/orange cap

Spore print color:
brown to purple-brown

Other information:
No spesific scent.

its not agaricus for sure, they dont have this type of gills. i think its cortinarius, most likely cortinarius varius.

The gills look like Agaricus sp. I don't know of any Cort with salmon gills that turn dark Brown when maturing and with that spore colour.

But the colour of the Cap is puzzling

The brown gilled ones certainly do look like an Agaricus species don't they? But the first certainly do not. Confusing.

when was for first time described in 18th century, c. varius was put in agaricus genus, probably due to this gills similarity of mature mushrooms. but those of younger ones clearly show the difference. agaricus have fragile, straight gills with flat line, and those here are curvy and ragged.

Interesting, I don't think Agaricus- gills are not free from the stem.
I don't think Cortinarius- wrong spore color and no cortina like veil remnants, looks like membranous
Veil remnants. Maybe an Agrocybe species?

I was looking on the Strophariaceae, Pholiota maybe?

It's a Stropharia. Maybe S. coronillia.

actually now im pretty sure these are two species. gills are different an younger one doesnt have ring. younger one could be c. varius older stropharia coronilla.

All of the mushrooms pictured above are the same Stropharia species. Cortinarius varius differs in many ways, though the pileus coloration and shape of the stipe are similar. C. varius has a cortinate partial veil while this has a membranous veil. varius has a rusty orange fibrillose zone while this has an annulus. varius is viscid while this is dry. Varius has purple gills while the gills here are isabelline with purple spore mass. varius is mycorrhizal while this is in a meadow. These are just the obvious differences.
