Ive found chicken of the woods and havecooked it but not sure how to preserve or freeze them. Is it ok to freeze them cleaned raw? if so do you have to add water to the bag or no? If you dry them on a screen table how do you store them? Next question is about drying. Is it best to dry them that way with a fan on them? Can I dry monotropa uniflora? does anyone know how to preserve them?

also I get dirty shrooms sometimes I brush them off with an old toothbrush I didnt use. they still appear dirty when dried. Is it ok to consume these dirtier type mushrooms? Heres a question about amanita muscaria var guesowii. Can you also dry and consume the stems? I heard they are full of strictnine.

The bristles on the toothbrush are not long enough to get the kinda stiff sweepy motion you need to dislodge the particles. Got an old small stiff paintbrush lying around? Howabout a brush you'd use to clean out your coffee grinder? Or go to the hardware store and spend two bux. Use gentle short sweeps, you'll get the hang of it. Kinda flick off the stuff with the bristles. But a little duff won't hurt you, probably provide trace minerals.
Here's the vid you need for drying:
Couldn't believe when I watched this, he came up with the exact same setup I have 'cuz I used to keep reptiles and scrounge 12v fans and powersupplies from my old boxes. I won't spoil it completely, tho'.
Drying is good 'cuz it takes up virtually no space and doesn't matter if the electricity goes out. After my stuff is dry I vac pac it in canning jars in the dark. The vac pac extends the life tremendously, got a seal-a-meal? The absolute best are the heavy mylar pouches, a couple of oxygen absorbers in there with the vac pac and they'll keep forever.

Right place, right time, right tools, right attitude, right perserverence.
In the middle of the forest with an atv when it's moist? Hard to miss if you're really trying under those circumstances.
Not to diminish credit where it's due. ;-)
