Couple of Pf Tek Questions *Flushes/Dunking*

1. How long do you dunk the cakes after picking the first flush? The last time I did pf tek I dunked for 24 hours after picking the first flushes and it seems to have ruined the cakes.
2. Is the second flush usually bigger than the first flush?

*cough* You aren't supposed to bump before the next day or sumthin... check the rules.
Anyhow, I believe 24 hours is all good for the between-flush dunks... But you say it ruined your cakes? Rubbery skin and/or blue-grey blobbing?
Regarding the second question; no idea.

Blue grey blobbing, and like nothing was sprouting after the 2nd 24 hour dunk.

Mine looked way worst than that, and yeah thats exactly what it had though.
What does that mean? Does it mean they were rotting or something?

Well, I don't know to be honest. I can tell you what I think happened to my cakes though, and how I solved it...
I believe that I, in an effort not to remove the pins that I had been told "could be for the next flush", I left way too much mushroom matter on the cake. Not actual mushrooms or stems, but the matter that they generated around their bases; the bottoms of the clusters. Then when dunking those areas soaked up extreme amounts of water, got engorged and bruised, and as it dries it grays and wrinkles and looks generally nasty. Again; this is all my assumption from observation and nothing else.
Personally I took a clean scalpel and cut it all off, and pealed the "rubbery" skin some areas had developed. This is how my cakes looked the day after I peeled them.

I was afraid it WOULD rot, but I have no idea if this is reasonable or not. Though I can tell you for certain that when I peeled mine they were not rotting, but the parts I removed were incredibly soggy, and all the pins that had been enveloped were practically exploded with water..
Edit; Btw, as you can see on the pic, I left some of the matter on top of the upper rightmost cake, and it actually recovered pretty well (apart from some aborts). But then again, that cake was looking healthier then the rest of the dunked ones in the first place.
