Inoculating agar from ms syringe from reputable vendor. Bacteria?
    #18737696 - 08/21/13 02:14 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

I'm reading a lot about innoculating agar with ms syringe resulting in bacteria.  Wats up with this.  Is this more common in syringes made using unsterile technique?  How would a viable syringe result in this.  Considering if the syringe produced clean grain spawn?

No syringe or print is 100% clean. Fruiting is not done in a sterile environment.

You can clean up bits of bacteria that are in a syringe with agar.

Sometimes though, you end up with just a mess of bacteria before the spores can germinate.

In that case, any reputable sponsor should give you a new syringe if informed that the spores are indistinguishable from contaminants under microscopy.

Unless of course the syringe has been sitting around for a while, then it's just the way of things.
