Unusual agar performance...
    #18737640 - 08/21/13 02:03 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

This culture was grown out for ~10 days, showing healthy rhizo growth. It was then refrigerated for two weeks (I was out of town). When I returned I warmed up the plates, transferred a few wedges, and then let the plate continue growing just for fun. ALL the new growth is completely tomentose, and has overgrown some of the arial mycelium, in a way that looks very unusual. Any idea if these are contams, or just a bit of tomentose growth post-fridge?

I'm a bit surprised, because a) I think this looks like mold BUT b) it perfectly covers the area of the mycelium.

I'll let it grow for a few more days, but would love an opinion before I propagate any of this.

The new growth has settled out and now looks intermediate. It's not a rhizomorphic as before, but nevertheless distinctive and clearly not a contam - I'm now confident that the growth shown above is mycelium. The rapid change in form gave me a scare!
