Do you emu?
    #18737075 - 08/21/13 11:46 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

I use to have snes9x and zsnes. Just the Super Nintendo emulators, with many upon many of games.

I should redownload it.

Do you have any emulators?

I just beat FF7 for the first time in almost 20 years with epsxe.  It looked quite nice, all things considered, using some of the graphic drivers settings and a shader.

I have a wireless 360 controller that I use and found that none of these emulators support hot plugging for controllers, which means the controller needs to be on and can't idle off (battery conservation feature built into the controller) or the controller no longer works...  But, I found this app called xpadder, which lets you create profiles that bind keys to buttons rather than using the emulator's built in controller support and that solves it quite nicely.

I want to plow through the other squaresoft games on the PS1, but I'm pretty jrpg'd out for the moment...

Meaning you have no clue what emulation is?

Put simply: You use your computer to play old console games

Check out the links earlier in the thread, it's really easy to do!

What does the fact I use my PC to play older console games have to do with anything?

I get the retro bug every now and again. MAME, Atari 2600, Commodore 64, Amiga, ZX Spectrum.

I just realized recently that my phone has enough processing power to play n64 games. The analog joystick emulation is kind of shit though. PSX games seem like they would be more playable since it has a keyboard, but I haven't been able to find a good emulator that's free.

On the computer, I play games for Nintendo systems mostly. I have a USB adaptor for two Playstation 2 controllers. It works pretty well for everything up to Gamecube.

I have my big folder of emus and sometimes get the "complete rom packs" which have every game in every language ever made for a given console. The # of games you get is totally ludicrous and 10 years ago I'd be totally drooling over just one of them.

want: ABM, ganoderma spp., straw mushroom, exotic pleurotus species, ethno cuttings/seeds.

The first time I found out about emulation I remember how awesome of a feeling that was. When I realized I could finally pass the games of the past that were plagueing me it was an even better feeling.

I've used that site for GC and other systems' games before, they have a pretty good selection.

I mostly use zSNES, epsxe, snes9x, Dolphin, MAME
I have a library of like 3000+ ROMs, it's kind of ridiculous. But they take up so little space so why not?
One thing I can't really live without when playing emulators, is a USB controller.
Playing a lot of games designed for console on keyboard and mouse can be an exercise in frustration.
The best / most universal controllers I have found are N64 usb and XBOX controllers

Ive been using a Gravis Gamepad Pro for SNES, NES, Playstation roms and its worked great. It looks exactly like a PS1 controller.

I have some snes roms that I play once in a while. I still like the zelda games and mario allstars, the one with 4 nes games in one. I tried to get a dreamcast emulator but I couldn't get it to work for some reason. I use my ps3 controller which is also kind of a pain to get setup.

Yep, I have the gameboy and DS ones to play Pokemon if I ever feel in the mood for nostalgia.
