WAY Over dunked. Toss it??

So I just got done with a hefty flush off one of my BRF cakes and it was time to dunk. I was dunking in my closet instead the fridge like I used to and completely forgot about the cake for 3-4 days. I pulled it out and put it back in my terrarium and now its blue and is starting to smell sour. I thought the blue was bruising but now with the smell I am almost certain its contam'ed. Just want someone to verify. I can get pics if necessary..

the blue prolly was bruising. The sour smell is prolly bacteria.
As soon as I smell anything other than earth or shroom, I toss it.

if mycelia drowned, LC's would be impossible, also consider, violet tek, is based on bottom watering.

Well sorry to say I tossed it. I moved it to the far side of the terrarium and let it sit for another 5 hours or so and it was just reakng up a storm in there. With plenty other cakes almost done colonizing I figured it wasnt worth the risk to keep it. I appreciate the replies but after reading over the contam sticky/thread again and with the amount of bluish/greening and the smell. Its G.O.N.E.

in the future, a bad smell is the sign that all is lost. Throw it away sooner to avoid spreading spores.
unless you want moar spores

Once I knew the smell was coming from the cake thats when I decided to toss it. So Im glad that I feel I did the right thing. Hopefully it didnt poop any spores out.
On second thought however, does anyone know why it contam'ed? Is it due to the prolonged time underwater or the fact that the container I dunked in was only clean and not sterile (after time something contam'ed the water?) Just wondering since Ive never had a cake contam after a dunk (though all previous dunks were 24hr or less)

100% colonized PF cakes are contaminate resistant......you should have just rinsed them off and fruited it again....

While dunking, some bacteria will form on the outside of the cake, that's one reason you rinse them after the soak.
I think yours just soaked to long and bacteria got too good of a foothold.

Were they not fully colonized? did they smell weird or something? Whats this proof you're trying to show me

I never knew you could rinse bacteria off, or that it could give off a sour/spoiled smell. Maybe I jumped the gun but I had already had a couple of good flushes off that cake and with that strong of a smell I didnt want to risk contaminating everything.

with just water? I think thats false, you can't just rinse it alll off. It's inside the cake for gods sake.

If he had a sterile colonized cake, his sudden contam after the first flush must have been in his rolling verm...that's what I'm saying, and you most certainly can rinse that off.... I ask the OP now, did it smell bad when you birth the cake? did it colonize all the way? was there in vitro pinning? Did it secrete metabolites?
