Auditory hallucinations on cubes
    #18736258 - 08/21/13 07:29 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Sorry for the lengthy post, but not really anyone else I can talk about this with.

So last Saturday I decided to drink some tea I made from some home grown cubes. In past experiences, I found these particular cubes to be a little on the weak side, so I decided to make a tea with 9.6 dried grams. These cubes were grown with multispore, however, so this particular tea KICKED MY ASS. Guess I just got unlucky with past trips on these guys, because these weren't weak.

Anyway, I could handle the head space I was in and any visuals I was getting, which were pretty intense, but great. Strobing lights, breathing walls, patters on the tile floor swirling, all that. However, I got some auditory hallucinations I have never gotten before. I've had the typical enhancements in sound such as music being more full and rich sounding. Normally my hearing becomes better, more clear, but this time it's like my hearing went haywire. At one point I turned the tv on and was watching the matrix, and I could barely hear what they were saying. And it wasn't just the tv. at times it sounded like they were whispering, then their voices would come back in and be booming loud, but every syllable would echo for a few seconds after they has said the word. And then it would go quiet again, but I could clearly hear other sounds. I would crinkle paper in my hand and it sounded normal.

Another time, a commercial for intolerable cruelty came on and it was like my brain spazzed out. The same 3 or 4 words kept repeating over and over and over. At first I thought the channel was messed up but it became obvious it wasn't the tv or sound system. I changed the channel and the repeating stopped, but continued to echo for a few seconds before fading completely. I have never had this happen with my tv before. I seriously thought I may have messed up my brain or senses some how, but eventually after I stopped peaking, the auditory hallucinations ended, of course.

Anybody else had extreme auditory hallucinations that aren't what you normally experience? Like I said, I normally experience enhanced sounds while on mushrooms. Music becomes clearer, richer. This was the opposite, it was almost as if my hearing went bad while I was tripping.

On higher doses this is quite common, If you were in a dark room alone you may have started a conversation with the mushroom

When I got fucked up on what I thought was acid, my mind just started filling in the parts of conversation I couldn't keep up with, with random shit I know those people would never say etc.

Hallucinations, patterns on your vision etc is basically the chemicals in the drugs confusing your senses, and kind of 'blurring' together your perception (which is why I believe it's common for people to 'see' sound and such.

Another thing is, on shrooms your attention span is pretty FUCKED. Did you really expect to keep up with/cognitively understand the dialogue in the matrix on 9.6g? xD As for the advert, mental loops are common (and pretty scary sometimes).

Funny you should mention a conversation with the mushroom. When the trip was just starting, I got that feeling they were going to be weak shrooms and I said to myself, "man these are going to be weak again, and I want to trip hard tonight"

I remember McKenna saying he sometimes talked to the mushroom and asked it for a good trip, so I literally said out loud, "show me something, teacher". Lol I was half joking with myself, but half serious in a way. I knew how strong a trip could be. Well, I was showed something that night for sure haha. Thing is, the trips was too strong to really learn anything about myself, I was just holding on for dear life if you know what I mean

Haha nah not really I just wanted to look at the pretty images and I had just come in from a walk so I was a little bored inside. I typically don't even watch tv when tripping. It can be boring sometimes and as you said, it's not like I can really keep up with it

I feel ya, when I got home still tripping fucking balls one time, I spent 30 mins trying to log in on my PC, then found a piece of paper with like 4 films i'd been meaning to watch on it.

Watched the whole of Life of Pi and didn't realise they were speaking English til about halfway through. Still don't know what happens in it.

But it looked fackin cool :yeahthatsright:

When I trip I like to watch family guy or futurama. I laugh hard at the quips and general humor but following the episode plotline becomes hard, and the more I try the more my brain just feels like scrambled eggs.

I initially found it unsettling that my cognition was insufficient to be able to fully comprehend what was happening in the episode, but this kind of thought is unproductive while tripping and I managed to vanquish it and return to having a good time!

Shrooms can definitely be a mindfuck, best advice of course to just go with the flow, embrace the trippyness in whatever form it comes and you'll have a good time IMO

EDIT: 9.6 grams omg nice that's not even on the horizon for me haha!

Haha thanks, but like I said in the post, I've had some very spotty experiences with the stuff I grow. I have eaten 4.5 grams and had a great experience, but then I've eaten 8 grams before, like a few weeks ago, and not feel much at all. Just weird potency issues and its not due to tolerance as I always give myself ample time between trips

These didn't have a potency issue lol

Yea I've had some pretty strong auditory hallucinations on L as well. I distinctly remember what sounded like bacon frying coming from one corner of the room I was in last time I tripped on L. Very loud and very real. It didn't sound like it was in my head

L is so freaking hard to come by where I'm from its sort of hard to even remember the experience. It was a year ago or so

Swim had a experience like that once at a hippie fest. Took 3 g then decided that he needed another 2 since hed have a tolerance from the night before. He walked the woods and then still didnt think they were kicking in, so went back to camp for more. On the way crossed paths with a guy sellimg shroom treats. I ate one, then asked how much was in them.  "About 2.5" was the answer.  Kept oing to camp, forgetting he didnt need to go there anymore. bck at camp he forgot that hed eaten the treat and asked the gf, who had the bags since she was sober. He recieved a bag that had had. G sold out of it and finished it off. this is at 2 hrs since first dose, he was feeling it but not over the top. Then they all hit like a ton of bricks about 30 min later at a Doors cover concert.
you know the noise a computer makes whenit freezes and crashes? that noise peirced his hearing and his brain into spaz mode. He could FEEL sound. Then there were sounds that werent there or didnt match their source. He could close his eyes and hear the visuals make noises. Beautiful and awful. A language with no words.. Twitching distorion. Tripping at a unknown level. He wandered back to camp, somehow and got lost staring at a fire for the rest of the 10 hrs. It mellowed out and became enjoyable about halfway thru. The first part tho. OMG. Just hanging on for dear life. He learned a new healthier respect for psychedelics that day.
