    #18734196 - 08/20/13 08:38 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys, my local hardware store has only this coir brick in stock

http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_brunnings-easy-wetta-9l-coir-peat-brick_P3023170.aspx?search=coir&searchType=any&searchSubType=products&page=1

Is this "coir-peat" the same as coco coir?

I believe coco peat and coco coir are the same thing, dont take my word for it, wait for more responses. Check all of your pet stores and ask if they have coco coir. The last place I thought that would have it had 5 blocks for only 12 bucks of eco earth coir bricks. They also had pre expanded, but buy bricks, its a way better value

Yes, coir peat is the same thing as coco coir.

One thing's a little odd though... The coir that most of us use comes as a 650-gram brick that expands to about 8 liters. That page says it's a 600-gram brick that "will expand up to 9L of coir peat." Maybe just a bit of marketing exaggeration, I guess...
