I've Inoculated 9 Jars exactly one week ago and they've had no growth and getting a good sour smell to them. Also the inoculation point seems to have grown darker than the rest of the jar. Should I wait or toss them and try again??

Any smell other than a nice mushroom smell is a bad sign. If it were me I would personally toss them and just start over.

If it smells like fermenting fruit, it's bacteria & bad, which is what it sounds like.

Id toss and start over if it smells bad. There shouldn't be any smells coming from your jars until you actually open them up and are putting them into fruiting/g2g.. Then it should just smell like fresh mushrooms.

Contaminated syringe probably..But it could be a variety of things honestly. Maybe you didn't clean down the room well enough before you started inoculating? Flame the needle each time before inoculation? Pretty much just make sure you are being as sterile as possible about things.

My new favorite thing to do is take contaminated jars (among other things) out to my buddys dads land and I use them as target practice. Kind of my way of saying Eff You to the contams
I know I could bury them outside and maybe get something out of them, but shooting them in alot more fun

Yea, most likely you didn't have your environment properly clean and some contams snuck in after you sterilized your jars, there are plenty of places it can go wrong. Make sure you clean real well/ use glove box and follow all lab techniques (flame needle etc.).

I wipe everything down in the room I use with 70% alcohol, run an air filter with 99.99% filtration for a couple hours, use a still air box, and spray the hell out of the room with disinfectant before I enter it. Tyvek sleeves and gloves... and I still get contams every once in a while. Mainly only when working with agar.
Gotta be very clean =) then you will increase your chances dramatically for having good end results.

My process takes the whole day, I wall off the room with plastic, put a hepa filter in for 5 hours stop before transfer to let remaining particles settle. Wash all surfaces with bleach all air with lysol put newly laundered clothes on transfer right from dryer. clean glove box with bleach clean everything that goes in glove box with bleach as its transferred in flame needle when in glove box and after every jar or agar inoc. When transferring inoc. jars or plates wipe down incubation chamber with bleach before and when its closed up.

OP, my first BRF Inoculation attempt ended the same way. I still dont know if the cakes would have colonized and pulled through, but they also had a very slight, but sour odor. I tossed them and actually just put round 2 in the PC lastnight.
I dont know IF they were actually bad, I mean I felt like I was going overkill with sanitation, but the whole week with NO signs of growth was worrying me. Then again I see posts here where colonization took a full month and the grow turned out fine so IDK.
Either way, good luck!
