Concern over flowhood. If it was bad, would newly inoculated jars from MS show contams be4 mycelium?

Ssia. Just curious as I've been having a bad run with jars as of late. I'm pretty sure it's coming from latent contamination in my master jars or weak mycelium from running my jars out with g2g too far. But if it was my flowhood and there was contam blowing in from the air, wouldn't I see contamination before mycelium considering how long MS takes to germinate?

the fact that you have a flowhood and are still doing MS is beyond me....  you should probably start doing agar work, you will have a far better time of being able to troubleshoot where the problem entered if a problem even presents itself; which it shouldn't if you are working in front of a flowhood and prepare everything correctly.

to answer your question, it's really hard to say when you are doing MS.  you probably contam'd your project from the start with those spores.
