Creek bed mushrooms
    #18732580 - 08/20/13 02:23 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

It's been so dry here lately that I'm afraid to grill outside because I don't want to catch my lawn on fire, but I went for a walk today and found these in a creek bed.  The one in the first photo was nearly a foot tall.

The stems on these were so velvety black that I wanted to rub them on my face!  I didn't though.  Just saying.

Oh neat, I think they might be an Entoloma sp.

Cool, thanks.  I'll check those out.  I've been waiting for my field guide to come in the mail for weeks now.  I'm excited to start figuring this stuff out on my own.

I think Marasmius, or maybe Marasmiaceae at least.
