I think you mean "Chicken of the woods". Hen of the woods is a totally different mushroom. I would agree though, they do look like Laetiporus sulphureus to me.

It is indeed chicken of the woods (not hen). Good find!

No need to be sorry about the name, that's what we are all here for - to get our names straight.
Many consider this to be a good edible.

Cut off the bottom (underside) bit as it's a bit bitter but the rest is fine .

I found this for the first time very recently. Looked last year and found nothing. The day after finding it i found some again but much more, and found it again several times since. Very odd. It is by far the best fungus i have tried.

My gawd, son, you're on fire! Too bad you passed 'em up before. These can be cooked and frozen or dried.
Luck of the noob.

I ate some more. Couldnt help it actually tatses damn good!!! I may not freeze it after all I really enjoy the taste compared to puffball! The texture is like chicken, you get a squash like with a little lemon taste followed by a slight mushroom after taste. Excellent. Try it if u get the chance!!!

How WAS that puffball? I'm working my way down the threads but haven't goitten there yet.
I'd like to try a chicken of the woods parmagiana.
