Habitat: It was growing on its own in a field used for cows. No trees or anything nearby. It was around 3m away from the perimeter of the field. It was not growing directly in dung or anything. This is in Scotland.
Gills: I don't know how to describe the gills; I have good pictures though taken from a high quality camera.
Stem: The stem felt smooth and dry. It also felt quite strong; it was not bending over on itself after being picked. The length is just over 10cm. The diameter is probably about half a cm.
Cap: The cap is conical, I'd say. It is 3.5cm in diameter. The texture is dry and smooth.
Spore print color: The spore print is in process as we speak.
Bruising: It doesn't seem to have bruished at all. The stem is all a dark purple/brown colour all the way up until it got lighter just below the cap; but I'm assuming this is due to it being drier, perhaps.
Other information: The scent to me is just like the scent of a mushroom you'd buy in the supermarket.

It is a Panaeolus species close to P. papilionaceus. That particular name usually refers to a species that almost exclusively grows from dung, but there are several similar species that grow from various substrate that are sometimes thrown under the Panaeolus papilionaceus tent. In short, Panaeolus species, not active, I'm not sure what to call it.

Thank you. Sport print is jet black btw, just thought I'd share that. It could have been growing in a piece of dung that I didn't see beneath the grass. I should have checked - will remember that for next time.
Is this edible? If it is, may as well cook it and enjoy it! :P
